I owned this software as a kid, and now that I'm older I wanted to re-add it to my edutainment collection of old. Though not the best of the Carmen Sandiego software line (I reserve that distinction for Word Detective), it is a notable one for me.

To those who are having difficulties getting this (or any) program to work on your operating system, I suggest setting up a virtual machine to run it. Using VMware, I've tested this program on both Windows 7 32-bit and Windows 98 operating systems, and it worked flawlessly on both. Research "virtualization software" and you'll never be deterred by operating system requirements again.

My husband got this game orignally for out 8 yrs old daughter, but he ended up playing and beating the game. I have to admit I also got into the game. I gave it 4 stars because it didnt come with intructions or anything like it. I would recommend this game to 10yrs old and up because some missions I think would be too difficult for someone young to understand.

Although it says it's compatible we installed it on our iMac and our Macbook and it froze repeatedly on both machines at the same point in the game. (the first destination) Contacted the software distributor and they said "we recommend you do not ask for a replacement..... choose another game title" hmmm how's that for "compatible??? Mac owners you're out of luck if you want Carmen Sandiego.

The information provided for the requirements for Mac is completely wrong. My computer met all the requirements for the disk to work in my computer and every time during install it would stop and say something in regard to how the system did not meet all requirements.

I really enjoyed playing this game while it was new, but there are 8 missions, each of which took me about 30 mins to solve if I sat down and completed them in the same sitting, and then the game is "over" and you have to restart the same set of missions because there is no new game content. No variety when you begin a new game. Once you finish it once you know all the secrets and can complete the missions without even thinking.
