CLIVE STAPLES LEWIS (1898-1963) was one of the intellectual giants of the twentieth century and arguably one of the most influential writers of his day. He was a fellow and tutor in English Literature at Oxford University until 1954 when he was unanimously elected to the Chair of Medieval and Renaissance English at Cambridge University, a position he held until his retirement. He wrote more than thirty books, allowing him to reach a vast audience, and his works continue to attract thousands of new readers every year. His most distinguished and popular accomplishments include Mere Christianity, Out of the Silent Planet, The Great Divorce, The Screwtape Letters, and the universally acknowledged classics, the Chronicles of Narnia. To date, the Narnia books have sold over 100 million copies and been transformed into three major motion pictures.

I've been listening to Focus on the Family for many many many years. And I have to say that I think that they do a pretty good job with radio dramas (and Adventures in Odyssey). Most "Christian" productions do not impress me. But, I think these guys really truly are talented, care about their work, and have experience. So, add that to a great story, like the ones in the Chronicles of Narnia, and you get a good result. At least I think so. I enjoyed their version of The Silver Chair. (I actually bought all the Narnia stories that they did, all very good!)

This series is everything a radio/audio play should be. Professional sound editing, experienced voice acting, and really good casting, too.

I own the box set with all 7 books. I purchased them years ago when they first came out, and I've listened to them over and over again since then. I had them for driving from school to home (17 hours) at first, but now I listen when I want something to entertain me while not demanding lots of attention (as I know the stories so well, and nearly have the radio dramas memorized!)

I love the books, and have enjoyed them tremendously. I think that lends to my love of these radio dramas.

The dramas are well done. The audio is clear and easily understood. The sounds effects are realistic, though perhaps not Hollywood excellent. The actors (is that the right word?) do a good job with intonation matching the situation and context, and the voices match well with the character (age, gender, pitch, those sorts of things).

Aslan's voice wasn't what I expected, but it wasn't a disappointment.

These CDs are worth getting, especially if you enjoy listening to things like audio books and the radio. The pictures form in your mind so that you can see the situation and the actions of the characters. And those imagines aren't limited reality or someone else's imagination.

The Silver Chair is a great audiobook. Great voice actors. Sometimes the background sounds were a bit loud in comparison to the voices.
