I have over a dozen guitars and over 2 dozen ukuleles. I'm always looking for something unique. I'm going to break this down into two parts, first for the beginner and then more for those like myself:For the beginner this is an awesome package! This is the BEST beginner package I have received with any guitar, and possibly with any instrument. The gig bag is above par. It comes with a tuner, capo, extra strings, etc. And the book it comes with is very nice for a beginner to start with. It goes over the basics and includes tablature/melody, as well as chords. It has more popular songs instead of just children's songs, including Edel Weiss, 500 miles, Amazing Grace, etc. Great great starter package. The quality of the instrument is above part too. It has a nice gloss finish, and it's solid top... which probably doesn't mean much to the beginner but you should know it's a higher quality than most beginner guitars. However... I would suggest going with the "natural" colored one, which is spruce top, over the mahogany top (like the one I got) because that should sound more like you expect in a guitar. You may possibly be let down with the mahogany choices as far as how it sounds if you were expecting something else. But if you really like the looks of one of the mahogany ones over the natural and don't desire a bright jangly sound, then by all means go with what you prefer.Notes for beginners: Although this is a great beginner package, I do want to draw attention to two things. First, this being a solid top it will want you to have more stable and comfortable temperature and humidity where you keep it. If you can't manage the humidity in your house for various seasons, or plan to keep it in the car part of the time, then an all laminate would probably be better. Also, this is a dreadnaught size. I as an average sized adult female find this barely small enough, almost too bulky, and I personally prefer a short scale guitar, like a "mini" size. For a kid I'd be more inclined to have them learn on a guitalele. But I think this is an excellent choice for a tall teenager or adult that wants a loud full sized guitar.Advanced players: This is solid top. I see no issues in the neck or finish. Obviously not top of the line, but to have an all "hog" is kind of cool. It is brighter than I expected given what it is, but that could be unique to each instrument. I love it. The intonation is spot on, and the tuners are good. It has a different look than most that will take me a little time to get used to it... it would be gorgeous and more normalized on an ukulele... with a guitar it's maybe a little out of place. The rosette looks to be mother of pearl. The whole thing is nice, while still be relatively inexpensive. The action is low and occasionally when playing a barre chord the low E would buzz... I'm thinking that's more my technique as it's not always there. Obviously, it has a truss rod and the action can be adjusted to your liking. Has 2 strap buttons. Big sound. Oh... and although you can't see it, it has a clear pick guard. This was a nice surprise as I wasn't sure I wanted to fingerpick steel strings, but also didn't want to ruin the finish.I'm surprised and very pleased with this instrument.
