This Ivation IVADM45 is supposed to be an adequate dehumidifier for a room 2200 cubic feet. I’m using it in a smaller space 8’ x 6’ by 15’ (720 cubic feet) so the Ivation IVADM45 should be more than powerful enough for my needs.Now, the reason I bought the Ivation IVADM45 rather than the Ivation IVADM35 is because I wanted the auto humidistat to turn the unit off after reaching a desired humidity level.Because I am in a rather hot and humid Florida location, I set the auto humidistat for 50% humidity. However, after 7 hours the Ivation IVADM45 turned itself off and registered 50% humidity.The room still felt quiet humid, so I checked my month old AcuRite 00613A1 Indoor Humidity Monitor which read 73% humidity. I then checked my weather channel app which reported 73% humidity for this area. Hmmm… Why did my new the Ivation IVADM45 turn itself off? And, why was the auto humidistat reading 50% humidity when that was clearly not the case?Perhaps it just needs more time, so I’m planning to reduce the auto humidistat to 25% and then leave it on tonight in order to see what’s happening in the morning.My concern are that If the onboard auto humidistat keeps turning the machine off prematurely, the auto humidistat is not accurate, and the machine in general is not operating consistent with the standards claimed by the company, then maybe I have a lemon.I double checked the company website which says of the Ivation IVADM45, “From bathrooms to laundry rooms to bedrooms to antique cars to boats, it rids the air of mustiness and unpleasant odors while quietly pulling in excess humidity at a rate of up to 25 ounces per day at 86° Fahrenheit and 80% relative humidity.”Currently here in Florida we have been averaging around 86° Fahrenheit and around 75% relative humidity. So, the Ivation IVADM45 should be quietly pulling at least 25 ounces per day. So far after 7 hours at 90° and 73% humidity the Ivation IVADM45 has only mildly reduced the humidity, quietly pulled 2 ounces of water, and then turned itself off.So, in order to keep the machine running, I've lowered the auto humidistat to 25% humidity and hope that it will keep running until it has done what it is supposed to do. My goal is to reduce the humidity level in my small 720 cubic foot space from 73% humidity to somewhere around 50%. And, I certainly don't want it turnimg itself off until it has either achieved the desired auto humidistat level or has quietly pulled 67.628 ounces (the on board reservoir capacity of the Ivation IVADM45) from my 720 cubic foot room.So far, based upon current performance issues, I will give this Ivation IVADM45 dehumidifier a 1 star rating because on the plus side, it was easy to set up, is relatively quiet and looks very, very good.If in the next few days or weeks, the performance improves, I’ll come back and let you know.In the mean time I'm sticking to my generous 1 star rating.May we all be well, safe and happy : - )______________________________________UPDATE #1: After a 24 Hour period.Okay, It’s morning and my brand new Ivation IVADM45 dehumidifier is reading between 55 and 60% relative humidity. Considering the outside humidity is 77% I would be happy with the performance of my Ivation IVADM45 dehumidifier - But… according to drips of water on my body and the reading of my Acurite humidity gauge (which has over 5,300 reviews on Amazon), my inside relative humidity is actually 76% and not 60% as the Ivation IVADM45 dehumidifier auto humidistat is suggesting.Consistently, the auto humidistat on the Ivation IVADM45 dehumidifier is reading between 15% and 20% humidity lower than my Acurite humidity gauge. (see pictures) And according to the feel of things, I’d have to agree with the Acurite humidity gauge.Although quiet, the Ivation IVADM45 dehumidifier did not pull 20oz. of water in a 24 hour period as advertised. It did, however pull 12oz. which is not bad and much better than the Damp Rid I tried, so to be fair, I’m going to raise my rating to 2 stars even though my inside humidity, with all windows, doors and vents closed, and after 24 hours of “dehumidification”, is only a few percentage points below the outside humidity.Again, to be fair, I’ll use the Ivation IVADM45 dehumidifier for another week and report back to you my findings.
