I am a fan of the Harvest Moon series. Well most of it's games. This one I have liked the most even more so than the special edition one they had for PS2...which in my opinion is special if you get what I mean. The PS2 version is very laggy and you don't have a clear view of everything. The camera angels are horrible and everyone seems to walk in slow motion. Time ticks by very slow so it seems like 1 day takes forever to complete. Gamecube version is where it's at. Crisp graphics, makes PS2 version look like is was drawn with crayons. As far as gameplay goes, it can be an addictive game if your new to it. Definately demands alot of time to complete the game so if your like me when you buy a game, you want to buy a game that will "last" and this one certainly does. This game is split into chapters. It's main focus is around your family and your child you have after your married. Still plenty of crop planting and taking care of animals like in the other Harvest Moon games but this one is more in depth and goes far behond just planting crops and making friends. You do watch the villagers get older..some die. Your child and wife age and you must try and help your child choose a career. He might even take over the farm for you when you die or he might just like being an artist..either way your kid is one of your main focuses in the game so doing things with him is important if you want him to turn out a certian way. Overall it's a great rpg (In my opinion also a good sim) game. It will last you a long time and it does have a high replay value since you can marry different women and have different kinds of children so it can have you coming back to play and follow a different path in the story. I would reccomend this game to anyone who enjoys the series or likes fun addicting games that last and keep you coming back for more.

BUT! I am REALLY enjoying HM:AWL! I picked this up several months ago but then never played it. I'm SO glad I finally popped it my gamecube. I remember renting the Super Nintendo version many years ago and just really not enjoying it. Back then I really just didn't get it. "How is this supposed to be fun?" It was only years & years later after hearing online reviewers rant & rave about the Harvest Moon series I finally decided to look into picking a game up. I probably would have picked up the SNES or N64 versions, but due to their higher prices, i settled on "A Wonderful Life." And MAN! Glad I did! It's hard to explain to someone how a "farm simulator" could be so fun and addicting. And by addicting, I mean this game is crack-cocaine in disc form. I find myself sitting down intending to play only 20-30 minutes, and before I know it I'm 3 hours into it. I won't get into all the details of what makes this so great, the other near 300 reviews probably have done that. I'll just say for those who are interested to see what all the hype is about with Harvest Moon, this game is a great place to find out!

Well, one would think that playing a farming based game would be boring as hell. Then honestly, that individual has never tried Harvest Moon A Wonderful Life. As someone who missed out on the earlier part of the Harvest Moon series, this was my first experience with a farming-based RPG game. The concept is very simple and requires a bit of care and attention to it. I will not go and talk much about the game since I am sure everyone here has covered it in some sort of fashion but growing a farm as well as raising a family is pretty fun as well as watching over how your son will turn out to be at the end of the game. At times, it can get a bit boring but the outcome of the game makes it all the while to sit down, dedicate a good portion of your time and play it. It is definitely a must have for any Gamecube/Wii owner as well as players of RPG!

I was thrilled to find it included the manual, and even the other little booklets it typically comes with, for a used - acceptable condition game, I was kinda holding my breath, but it was lovely, and pretty much immaculate. I was so thrilled and impressed.

Thank you so much, it's amazing, and it's been running great. I am impressed and pleased.

I played this game during my adolescence and lost it somewhere in late adolescence; it literally disappeared off the face of the earth. I have two other HM games that I play, HM 64 and HM: MM and it made me miss this game even more, so I had to order it and I have not regretted it. Must play if you are a true HM fan. It can be boring at times, with the length of time and the the way that the time passes, but it's addictive and you'll slowly become entranced by this game. The condition it was in when received was great, and I've had no problems out of it and I was happy with the price. Would be happy to buy more games from used Amazon, especially from the same warehouse/seller that sent this to me.

Harvest Moon: A Wonderful Life is a cute farming/ranching game.

The chapters may be long, but you can make it to the end if you're very patient. Celia is my favorite character, so I paired her with my character, or rather the game chose for me when I reached the end of chapter 1.

So far, my character's son is interested in either Farming or Ranching, I think. One way or another, if I play the game right, I can get the ending where my character's son becomes a Farmer or Rancher.

In fact, I named my character Link and his son, Brian. I guess I'm a Legend of Zelda fan, and I liked the game Quest 64 to some extent.

But anyway, it's a good game so far. But the tragic thing is, sorry about the spoilers, the character dies at the end of the game. Sure it's because of old age, but that's not going to be the best ending I see.

Anyway, aside from the above, A Wonderful Life's a fine game. But since there's no freeplay, I'd reccommend Tree of Tranquility if you want a game that has no time limit and no character deaths.

Only one thing I'd liked to have known before I ordered the game is whether or not it's possible for the Ducks, to live without food as well as the horse without either animal type dying in this game.

I love Harvest Moon games. There is no violence, there are no violent words, but there are the occasional typo's witch makes the game all the more fun like when your son talks to you about someone and occasionally get their gender wrong.
You get to be a farmer and you get to rase animals on the farm. You get different chapters in your characters life to live out as you please, and it gets to be very addicting. You get to choose whether you want to marry a pretty girl, a rich girl, a country gal or a girl who lives at the inn. Or you could marry all three of them (in different games) and live differently each time. What you do after you get married is also very important. You get to influence your child to become the career that you want him/her to do. He/She could become a farmer/rancher like you, a snigger, a runner, a scientist, whatever. But it all depends on what you do when you can still influence Him/Her.
When the game arrived, not a scratch was on the CD and the box. When I played it, the storyline was as it is supposed to be, but some items that you can get from the villagers, in my copy of the game, only worked like normal items. ex. a hoe that you can get from someone only makes one tilled land instead of nine. Other than that, it works quite nicely, and Ill have to choose between wanting to be a farmer or a rancher cuz being both plus watching my kid? (I want mine to be a rancher) It sure dose take a lot of work!
I would recommend Harvest Moon to any and all ages of people (at least, old enough to read anyways).
WARNING: This game is very additive and it might keep people from going outside for extend hours. So have all children play it, after all Natsume games are all usually very good.
