After pressing the "Triangle" button on the VMU dongle and then pressing the "Start" button it didn't work at first but soon I realized I had to press the top "sync" button on top of the controller THEN press "start" and it worked fine. Once it started working I loved it! This is perfect for Dreamcast fighting games!

If you're here to just get a modern, new, and reputable controller, buy it. It's very nice feeling, it does everything Id ask of it just fine.

Other reviewers rating it poorly are giving bad reviews because of issues with Amazon, not this controller. Which is ridiculous. I'm a homelabber who builds custom controllers and I really quite like this controller.

This controller is a great wireless option for the Dreamcast Wireless. When I held the controller it has a great weight to it and sturdy in the hands, feels very well built. Buttons have a nice click, analog sticks feel smooth (Hall effects!) and d-pad feels great. This feels much better than their wired controller.

I did have an issue originally trying to charge it, I was told by their support that you have to use the included Retro Fighters USB-C cable. Once I used it, it charges just fine. Also to note it is 100% compatible with original VMU's they are adding firmware support (I am told) for VM2 and 4X Memory and 3rd party memory options. In the meantime I'd recommend using original VMUs, those work fine until a firmware update.

Again, a great controller, has nice rumble and the triggers feel great, right amount of sensitivity. If you are a Dreamcast fan, I highly recommend you get this gamepad!

The analog stick goes from 0 to 100 almost immediately and with no firmware updates or software to adjust the sensitivity it makes playing certain games that rely on subtle stick movement like Daytona USA and Sonic Adventure basically unplayable.

It's a real shame because the overall feel and responsiveness of the controller is really good.

This controller is light, holds a charge for days and has wireless rumble built in. I’m glad we don’t have to use that bulky rumble pack or attach the memory card anymore. The memory card will sit in a dock conveniently part of the dongle you receive. Which makes this controller ergonomically comfortable and sleeker in design. I haven’t had any drawbacks or joystick drifts and I love it just as much as my Xbox wireless hunter controller. These guys truly make amazing products for retro gamers.

This was given to me as a gift and I STILL could not justify keeping it. They clearly know what people want 1. A wireless Dreamcast Controller and 2. A Dreamcast Controller with VMU support… but while they offer both, they are apparently technologically incapable of combining them.

…which is astounding considering I already own a Wireless Dreamcast Controller with VMU Support from the company DreamConn! So right there is proof it can obviously be done, this company is just unable to do it. I’ve had it for over two years now and it works great, yet this much larger company is unable or unwilling to do so? Is this a joke? Are they just trying to sell overstock parts rebranded into a Dreamcast Controller shell? Or do they not just give a single care?

And if they’re going to change the original iconic design to this leftover-design that looks like the same controllers they’ve done, they might as well have added a right analog stick. Some of us like to map the Dreamcast’s L and R buttons to the right stick as they often control the “camera view” back in games prior to right analog sticks being common place. But apparently they will reuse the same old parts they’ve already made for other systems, yet won’t do the same for upgrades like that?

They didn’t even try with this one (which is two bad, as I loved their PS1 Controller! But this? Stay away until they combine their VMU Controller and Wireless Chip into ONE SINGLE PRODUCT and stop ripping off their customers!)

Unit arrived with a drained battery. Tried to charge the device. Heard a small pop and looked down and could see a small amount of smoke (The Blue controller is transparent). I went through two of these and gave up. I've never had a device break when trying to charge via computer. Something is seriously wrong with the construction of these controllers. I don't know what would have happened if I charged it in an outlet and left it overnight.

The only downside is the price. I find it expensive at least for now.
