First, let me say that I like the FIFA series. This game is fun to play and easy to play and learn. The features are great and the visuals are stunning. FIFA 2002 also has the real players and what can I say, it doesn't go wrong when it comes to that, the creation options, and the gameplay.
But to me, all of this is nullified when the product has bugs or flaws in the system. Needless to say my experience hasn't been "awe-inspiring" with this EA product - which is very disappointing since EA usually releases quality products. For example, sometimes, the game will "freeze" when you're making a substitution. That really is annoying when you've played maybe 2-3 games and then lose all your data. Of course you can save yoru game after every match but then again, one night I had such a horrible time, it froze every single time I played.
And beware of some of the quirky "cannots" that aren't exactly explained in the instruction manual that you have to seemingly "find out for yourself". For example, the "reset team" feature is needed basically whenever you start a new league - which may mean that any edits you make to other teams, if you're playing in a Euro Champ league, may end up being nullified.
So that's what to look out for. I love the gameplay and the options and graphics. OF course your keeper always pales in comparison to the opponent. But I enjoy playing the game - when the bugs aren't ruining the experience.

The graphics are great and the sound is great too. Commentators, as always, are a little annoying. The passing mode in FIFA2002 has been reinvented! You can kick the ball to wherever you want and with the power you want. Now it's a little more difficult to make passes and score goals but that makes the game even better!. There are some differences between PS2 version and the GC version. For instance, you cannot score goals from midfield in the PS2 version but you can score goals from really far away in the GC version (if you are good). FIFA 2002 is a good game but they took out some features that everyone enjoyed from previous versions like changing formations (and strategy) without pausing the game. FIFA 2002 is "Road to World Cup" and you can choose almost any country and try to clasify to Korea/Japan 2002 World Cup but you can't play World Cup! You can also play with Real Madrid or Juventus and many other famous football clubs and that is very interesting. If you are a soccer fan, you have to buy this game because they are trying to make it a simulation instead of a simple soccer game!

Fifa 2002 is by far the best Fifa game to date. EA has given you complete control of the ball, and gave the ps2 graphics a boost on the good ol' cube.
Graphics: 5- Great. Though they are, of course, less noticeable during regular game play, after you score prepare to be amazed. The crowd is the best I've ever seen in any sports game.
Sound: 4- Decent. The soundtrack is good, but Madden's is better. The sound effects are good, and when the goalie picks up the ball the crowd claps. The commentary can be annoying some times, but there is an option to turn it off.
Gameplay: 5- EA has done an excellent job of giving you complete control of the ball. You can add spin with the shoulders and aim exactly where you want the ball to go. Aiming takes some getting used to. The AI is very challenging, but Amateur difficulty is way too easy.
Overall: 5- Great graphics, great control, it all equals up to the the single best soccer game i've ever played. The create-a-team and players is super, and creating a league with your friends is my fav thing to do. Pick this one up now.

When I was shopping for my first gamecube game, i was going to get Star Wars: Rogue Leader. Not a bad choice. But once I saw Fifa 2002 I had to have it! I own Fifa '99 for the Nintendo 64 system and that game is loads of fun! I knew that this game would be stupendous!
When I first popped the game in, i was blown away by the gameplay, sound, and graphics. I didn't even play it and I was already loving this game.
After playing, I didn't change my opinion, it was made stronger! This game is a must have for soccer fans as well as people not so accustomed to the sport.
The opportunities in this game are more realistic. It isn't a breeze to score as in Fifa '99. Once you score, the graphics become outsanding. When your playing, the option to send a player on a run is superb. Of course the commentators are a nice addidtion to the game. John Moxon and Andy Gray are great! After playing for about 10 hours, I am still hearing things I haven't heard from them!!

The game fifa 2002 is a great strategy game/ soccer game that I would like everyone to rent. The game has high Quality graphics, Great multi player with up to 4 people. This game also has diffrent unique teams from all over the world. This game is awesome because with over 100 teams to choose from the game play never ends. There are also three difficultys to chose from, and you can customise your own team and players. One thing that might not be so pleasent is that if you don't make custome teams and players the game takes up 12 blocks of memory. If you do customise it takes 29 blocks of memory. I consider this game a strategy game because if you don't have a game plan this game might be pretty hard even on ameture. The game will probaly take 1 week before you score one goal. You have to control your aim and accuracy of each kick in about 1 second, so it is pretty hard to get use to the kicking and passing. The gameplay is good yet teven though there are tons of tournaments and seasons to play it's just the same thing over and over so don't expect to want to play this game for 5 hours strate. The game can get frustrating so I wouldn't buy it, but at the new low price maybe you should.

I found that this game is very entertaining and exciting. In fact, probably one of the best soccer games ever made if you ask me. You can't ask for better graphics, everything down to blades of grass are detailed. The gameplay is fast and fun. There are too many teams to count to choose from. And there are plently of tournaments to play. The only downside to this game is you can't play in real stadiums. But overall this game is sweet and is a great addition to your game collection.
