I bought this mostly for 'Golden Axe', but the other games don't hurt either.. although one is 'echo the dolphin' which I never had interest in, and the other is sonic pinball.. which is impossible unless your insane or lucky enough to beat any level past the first level. its like asteroids and joust, theyre great to have in your collection but don't rely on these for fun, theyre all but physically impossible to beat. it was hard enough on the sega.. and with no save feature for sonic pinball, its just as hard here.

- Three classic games originally on the sega genesis via GBA cartridge, sonic pinball, golden axe, and echo the dolphin now ported to GBA and playable on the DS like they deserve to be

- Golden axe Is multiplayer but NOT on the DS lite, but two carts or more at your own risk, at least two GBA's plus the link cable required

Overall, this is a nice collection of games, all of which i grew up with having owned a Sega Genesis. Graphically, each game resembles the originals but with less polish on the GBA. Golden Ax is a clean brawler in the likeness of TMNT with medieval-style characters and repetitive hack-n-slash gameplay, that for some reason never gets old. Sonic Spinball is the biggest disappointment in that all levels, boss included, have the same tune from the first stage. What's up with that!

If you are looking for classics with enjoyable gameplay and have a GBA, I would recommend this. Otherwise, if you have a Genesis get the original games.

This game is a steal! You get 3 Classic sega Genesis/ sega cd games all in one. The best part is that if you already have a game boy player for the GameCube you can play them on the tv with a GameCube controller. They are great ports and it feels like I'm playing the Genesis again.

I bought this game at a local record/game store because it was cheap, so I figured I would see what was on it. It's nothing but a mixed bag. I love playing any Sonic game, and Golden Axe is da bomb, but Ecco??

Ecco The Dolphin -- 1 star -- this is possibly the WORST game that the Sega designers created. The only good thing about this title is the graphics. However, the locales do tend to get rather confusing, especially after you progress in the game and you feel like you are visiting the same place again and again. Also, the soundtrack is just flat out BORING!! From start to finish, the music did not change at all -- even when the credits rolled. The challenge is cumbersome, especially in the Library level when you have to flip Ecco out of the water to reach another section (4 times too!!) I was so happy when I finally finished the game and beat the boss (he's not that hard, it's just a matter of attacking his mouth after he closes it, then running away before he opens it again). I would NOT recommend this game to any player -- instead, try the Game Gear version and the Tides of Time sequel.

Golden Axe -- 5 stars -- everything about this game screams GREAT!!! It left me wanting more -- it didn't have enough levels. I loved how the soundtrack alternated between each level. What's more fun is the constant screaming of the enemies each time you kill them. The final boss is a doozy -- he'll use magic on you anytime he wishes, so you have to save YOUR magic and use it on him (the skeleton guards are invincible).

Sonic Spinball -- 3 stars -- I would have given it four, but the soundtrack doesn't change (just like with Ecco). The only version in which the music DOES change is on the compilation for Sonic Mega Collection (from Gamecube). The graphics fit well within the GBA, and the challenge is extremely difficult. However, this version of "s"pinball is much better than regular pinball games because there is a goal to reach -- collect ALL the emeralds and beat the boss. Dr. Robotnik at the end of the game is VERY hard. He'll toss Sonic around like a rag doll so you if you hit the bottom of his ship, sometimes it leaves him vulnerable so that Sonic can smash his glass cage. Unfortunately, it takes 10 hits to do so and you have to do so WITHOUT losing a single life. It's hard, but it's doable. Spoiler alert: Dr. Robotnik will go down with his crazy castle at the end of the game before the credits roll.

So, if you are looking for a compilation to play, avoid this title unless you are a hardcore fan of the Ecco series. Buy the Sega Ultimate Genesis Collection for the PS3/Xbox 360 or Golden Axe stand-alone!
