Griponite Games are a very solid developer but they unfortunately came up very short with Daredevil. Now I have to give them a lot of credit as even though it's a movie based tie in it really doesn't have anything to do with the film as it's an all new story that's more inspired by the comics but they use the movie based characters which is always the better choice. Story-wise Daredevil has been framed by the Kingpin and has gotten the public to turn against him so he has to clear his name and take down Fisk. Simple, but effective. From here on out you'll partake in a 2d action platformer as you go through all locations of New York taking down numerous bad guys and villains from the comics on your way to clearing your name.Gameplay-wise it's incredibly standard fare where you'll beat up by guys and get from point A to point B while taking on a villain at the end of certain stages. Daredevil has a punch combo, he can use his billy club to throw or whack with, a jumping attack, and a leg corkscrew attack. That's really about it as far as offensive moves go. How Griptonite handle his radar sense was actually pretty neat. While traversing the stages DD will have a flicker go off on his head letting you know that there's hidden items somewhere near you. Once that happens you press the L button and everything goes to black and white and the hidden item will pop up on the screen once you're in its vicinity. Pretty cool. As far as the villains in the game you'll go up against Electra, Sewer King, The Hand, Kirigi, Echo (Maya Lopez), Bullseye and last but not least Kingpin. The graphics are decent while the levels have pretty nice detail in them. Music and sound effects are okay and the controls work well overall and are responsive. It's also a pretty solid length. It's just the game play is incredibly standard and unfortunately it's just kind of 'meh' overall. Only really recommended if you're huge Daredevil fan but he definitely deserves much better than this one game that he has gotten so far.

I first happened upon this game when my friend found it while cleaning out his room. He hadn't played it in a long time and so got rid of it by giving it to me. It took me a long time to get used to it, but by now, I happen to love it. While I'm not saying that this game is perfect in any way, I will say that some of the reviews on here are a bit harsh. I, for one, happen to love this game. After having played hundreds of games from the classics on the NES up to modern Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 games and, while I have enjoyed most of them, I tend to have more fun while playing the more simpler games.
Daredevil happens to be a simpler, more old-school styled games, for a more relatively modern time. It's possible to beat the game all in one sitting and the play time is probably an hour at the most. While the lack of a saving feature can be annoying at times, there are ways around it (such as writing the code that unlocks everything code on the top of the game cartridge where it can be read and imput while in use, something I have done). Even if that doesn't sound appealing, the game doesn't take long to play through beginning to end. And the unlockables are worth finding, as they hold movie clips, images form the Daredevil film, comic book artwork and new costumes for Daredevil and certain enemy characters.
The graphics are pretty spectacular for a Game Boy Advance game, especially for 2003. The background truly have a life of their own, with a lot of detail put into the buildings and vehicles during the city stages and the boats sailing in the water during the fight with Elektra on the harbor. Davedevil himself moves incredibly smoothly, and while the combat can be somewhat stiff, it can be greased up with quick aerial attacks that are just as effective for ground enemies as they are for enemies in the air.
The radar sense has a lot of potential outside of just using it to find hidden power ups and unlockables, particularly in some of the boss fights. The fight with Kirigi has an interesting strategy and Daredevil's radar sense must be used to "see" the boss on a few occasions. Likewise, the fight with Echo takes her and Daredevil through dark tunnels where it is impossible to see without the enhanced senses (including for her). The boss fights themselves are all pretty fun in their simplicity, although the final boss could have used a little embellishing.
With a few issues here and there, I'd have to say the people at Encore have made a pretty solid action-platformer game with the Daredevil license. If you are interested in either of those genres or are simply a fan of Daredevil or superheroes in general, I'd recommend giving this game a chance. Just don't expect it to be a super complex, mission based RPG, because this game's charm lies in its simple, old-school gameplay.

Feeling like like making a mistake? Buy this game, then! Made its bad graphics, impossible passwords, and lack of fun will convince you what a mistake you made. Enjoy fighting crappy unpopular bosses like the Sewer King, the Hand ninja klan thing,Echo (easiest boss), and the first boss (harder than Kingpin)Elektra, who has suddenly, without any explanation, has sprung back to life. Fighting Bosses just depends on luck, no strategy. Enjoy your waste of money!!

No doubt there will be more Daredevil fans worldwide with the release of the mega budgeted film starring Ben Affleck, so let the marketing ploys begin. When playing Daredevil for the GBA, one will wonder how much more great this game could have been had DD's abilities (namely his super radar senses) been better implemented. Aside from that, the game is standard side scrolling beat 'em up fare that was seen so much in the 16-bit era (thanks Acclaim) with look alike enemies and backgrounds. However, Daredevil does have some good going for it. If you beat the game (it doesn't take long to get through the 23 levels), you can play again to collect all the DD icons throughout the game which will allow you to view images from the film, comic illustrations, alternate costumes, and a level select among a bombardment of other secrets. The movie versions of Elektra and Bullseye are here, as is the Kingpin, plus foes from the comic series such as Sewer King, Turk, and Echo. The graphics are really nothing spectacular and don't show off any of the GBA's capabilities like it could have. The cinematic-esque soundtrack is unusually good, and the controls are mindnumbingly simple. All in all, Daredevil isn't necessarily a bad game for the GBA, and fans of the comic or film should check it out, but it just annoys me a bit (and other long time Daredevil fans as well) of how great this game could have been if some more polish and thought went into it.
