The Baldur's Gate series redefined and reinvigorated the PC role-playing scene, and now Interplay brings it to the Xbox. Don't be fooled, however, this isn't a traditional role-playing game, but rather a fun, wall-to-wall action hack 'n' slash adventure in the mold carved by Gauntlet and Diablo--one that nonetheless conforms to the Dungeons & Dragons 3rd Edition rule set.

Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance casts you as one of three basic characters: an elf sorceress, a human archer, or a dwarf fighter. From there, you're set free inside a huge Dungeons & Dragons world replete with dungeons, forests, and ice caves. Naturally, it's all filled to the brim with horrible monsters, wicked traps, treasures, and fabled magical weapons. As you go, you're constantly rewarded with new weaponry, new monsters to fight, and experience points you can put into your character stats to grow even more powerful. You can swap equipment in an inventory "paper doll" screen. Those changes are reflected in your onscreen character, so you'll start with simple weapons and a drab appearance, and you'll end up a big, mean superhero at the conclusion.

The graphics are simply wonderful, and the controls are accurate, responsive, and fun to use--which is necessary for the constant hacking and slashing required. The game is all the more fun when you recruit a buddy and play in cooperative mode. --Bob Andrews

The disk came in it's original box with the instruction manual. Unfortunately I did not realize that Dark Alliance does not work on the Xbox 360. I'm sure if I used this disc in an original Xbox it would work perfectly fine. But I bought the game for my 360, not knowing that the game would experience extremely low frame rates. I gave five stars because the disc is in great condition, and the only problems I had with the product were because I bought it for my Xbox 360 but it will only work in an original Xbox.

I bought this copy of a favorite Xbox game because I'd played my original copy so much that it was worn out beyond repair. I preferred this game and its sequel to other games that had better production values and greater hype because it has the Gauntlet-style gameplay that I love so well, plus I was drawn into the story, the characters, and the quest. I've always preferred action-oriented RPGs and this is one of those games that encompasses everything I love about videogames in general and the sword & sorcery genre in particular. I could and have often replayed this game and its sequel for hours on end, always finding something new to be amazed by. Being able to unlock the bonus character (Drizz't Duorden) and using him in the sequel is an excellent bonus, as is unlocking Artemis Entreri in Dark Alliance II. I highly recommend this to anyone who loves Action/RPGs.

Watch out for seller's DJS Wholesalers &, Flip22.
Like the other day with seller Flip22, a package I received today from DJS Wholesalers, yhe package arrived, but the product I purchased, wasn't even in the package.
Apparently, the online-shopping scam that has been plaguing eBay, other online-shopping sites that use bidding for purchases, has now unfortunately, found its way onto Amazon. The scam is 3rd Party Sellers, fakimg that they have classic disc video games, ranging from the last 2 - 5 generations of video games.
What I received in my package, was just a small black bubble-package, with "supposed instructions, in order to get a supossed refund from the seller or, wait 30 or more business days, for a supposed product replacement." DJS Wholesalers, like Flip22, claimed in the piece of paper they sent me in a small black bubble-package, claimed that their "supposed warehouse that supposedly houses all of their supposed products, got damaged & or, vandalized. I absolutely do not, believe them in the slightest. The reasons being, because like seller Flip22, DJS Wholesalers not only allowed the pur hase of the product to go through, they also took my money without, notifying me by calling me, texring me, or emailing me, about the "supposed damage & or, supposed vandalism of their supposed warehouse."
They should've notified me, as well as stopped the purchase from even going through. Then there is their "suppossed methods of their own suppossed way of issuing a refund/product replacement. They actually tried blowing smoke up the wrong person's rear, just like seller Flip22 tried to do. & like them, DJS Wholesalers actually falsely/wrongly convinced themselves of a laughable delussion, that I'd be stupid enough to actually believe that they'd compensate me -- what bs. Which is why, like with Flip22, I contacted Amazon Customer Service instead, of going through endless hoolo-hoops, which the end results of that being, me not getting compensated, & DJS Wholesalers laughing at me from afar. & I aure am glad & appreciative of Amazon's quickness in handlinc the issue with Flip22 &, DJS Wholesalers. Again, watch out for seller's Flip22, & DJS Wholesalers.

This game is almost as awesome as the Playstation 2 version. I have only noticed a bit a slowdown sometimes when many enemies are on the screen at once. I am playing this on Xbox 360 so it might be the system's fault, not sure. But this game is still a blast to play. The controls and controller are flawless. If you loved this game before on PS2 you will love it on Xbox 360.
