I will try to be brief. Overall I think this is a fantastic handheld gaming device. Considering my last one was a Nintendo DS there is simply no comparison. The graphics are fantastic, it's easy to use and the size is good even for my tiny lady hands.I purchased this for gaming while traveling. I own a Xbox360 and a PS3 so I didn't buy this for gaming at home nor as my primary gaming device. I think comparing the games or the handheld system to console games or console systems is unfair. There are always limitations associated with what smaller devices can do.***Bundle/Value***I got this on a lightning deal for $179, and received a code for PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale for PlayStation Vita and 3x 1mo trials of Playstation Plus. So two games, 4GB memory card, 3 months of PS Plus AND a Wi-Fi Vita for under $200 is a good deal for this. I wouldn't pay more than that for it.***Vita***I think the white Vita looks very neat and it masks all those fingerprints! The size is nearly perfect for my hands. I would love it if it was just a tiny bit shorter horizontally as I have to strain my thumbs a bit to touch the middle of the screen. Otherwise the buttons have good placement and it's easy for me to use index fingers on [L] [R] buttons and thumbs on the up/down arrows and action buttons.***Liberation***I'm a HUGE Assassin's Creed fan. Loved that the white Vita came as a bundle with the game. The game itself is a lot of fun. Obviously it is adjusted for a handheld device and I did not expect it to play the way it plays on a console. I think overall it stayed true to the franchise and delivered the same type excitement and play.***Interface***This is a miss for me. The graphics are so beautiful inside of the games, but the interface with the "wobbly" buttons looks really ugly to me. It is however quite simple to use, if you're used to something like an ipad or a smart phone you'll know what to do. For example "organizing" the icons works the same as it does on an ipad and an android.***Apps***I have virtually zero use for apps such as camera, maps, email or music. However I think it's a nice touch for someone who doesn't own a smartphone. Since the Liberation Vita is WiFi only I bet most people will be using the WiFi aspect at home, or maybe a hotel while traveling so personally I don't find these useful.I recommend this device to anyone who wants to have something fun to do while traveling or commuting but not as your primary gaming console.

i really wanted to make a review on this product for along time because it deserve to have one. but i just want to wait for certain time before i can really judge it. most people judge after playing like 2-3 games or so. so sad.
also want to review before PSV2000 will be released (considering to buy one :))
so i bought this portable console on Thanksgiving 2012. i bought it $180 with this bundle + free playstation all stars br digital download code & + 3 months ps plus. the deal was somewhat awesome to pass up although list of games wasn't that big at that time. in fact, i barely use this console at those times. i've been there when people already judged this product would be a flop due to a stagnant quantity of games after a few years of launch. well, time has changed right now since a flow of quality & quantity of games has been released recently. i'll skip my review on assassin creed game (not my cup of tea of a game) & laughingstock 4gb (can't even fit Killzone HA!)

Positives:
Graphics/Capability - i call this epic mobile console as a borderline PS3 since Killzone already proved its potential. the game delivers a very fine HD detail on certain games. I've seen my sister's 3DS & already seen a wide margin of capability between the two.
Sound - its not as bass as i want from bose speakers but sound is loud enough to hear in the entire living room. volume selection is plenty for my gaming needs. next to minimum volume is low enough that i can hear it to myself while hiding in a little corner to play a game.
Controls/Buttons - most important thing is the Right analog stick. its very useful to act as a mouse on any 3D games like fps/3ps or action rpg games. crystal while colors on buttons looks neat as well.
Oled Screen - very beautiful, always delivers a luscious & vibrant colors in the game.
Touchscreen Feature - it doesn't have some fancy things like stylus from 3DS but using my fingers is practical enough to serve its purpose just like using potions on Ragnarok Odyssey. I don't need those fancy styluses where where i use one hand on directional buttons & on action buttons in the other.
Battery Life - battery life is somewhat decent, mostly 6-7 hours but it depends on what kind of game i would throw. Killzone tends to drain my battery faster. turning off wifi & minimizing brightness would help battery life as well. another positive thing is i can fully charge my console for an hour or a bit more.
White Colored Console with a Beautiful White Crystal Buttons - looks unique & black colored PS Vita are so mainstream
Wifi - it offers online wifi gaming!
Mobility - it fits on my jeans & i can even put a strap on.
OS/System Software Backgorund - those bubbles are quiet neat to press & customizing wallpapers on every pages are awesome as well.
Game Library - psn offers a vast of number of games from ps1, psp, indies & an increasing number of ps vita games. ps vita games mostly showcases a couple of 3ps that i could care less about since i prefer to play those genre for my pc. also offers rpg's, puzzle, rhythm games, etc.
Prices & PS+ - kinda agree with some folks that a new $40 game is quiet steep. if i know how to wait for sales, the prices are pretty reasonable. PS+ is a must have, it offers 1-2 psv game & 1-2 psp or indie game per month along with gravity rush, uncharted & wipeout that has been there every month. PS+ also cuts off game's price 50-75% during sales. I pretty much build up my library of games because of it. Also lookout for thanksgiving sales where physical copy of PSV games are $10-15 ea & 1 yr. PS+ subs for $30.
3rd Party Developers - im a big JRPG fan & Tecmo Koei, Xseed, Aksys are constantly releasing some rpg games. Now Sega is releasing rhythm games <3

Negatives:
Memory Cards - this was been an old issue where you can't just use a standard SD or microSD cards for most gadgets. i would still say memory card is a MUST, the higher gigs the better since it really fills up so fast when theres a PSN sales & PS+ games. currently, theres only 32GB that is officially sold within the US. Japan already released the 64GB version but prices are still $80-$90 unless you will wait for thanksgiving where gamestop sold it for $40 & sold out really fast.
Oled Screen - visible black spots on screen during very dark scenes in game while playing in the dark. frankly, i almost return my console on that 1st month i bought it but found out that almost everyone has this thing & said quiet normal for Oleds.
Select & Start Button - i don't know why designers didnt make these buttons a little bigger & more protruding. Its quiet hard to press these buttons while i have my crystal case console protector on.
Rear Touchscreen - ps vita games haven't made a good use on that rear end except for Tearaway.
Camera - captures pretty bad compared to smartphone cameras
PS Vita OS/System Software Music background - good thing theres a mute button on this but it would be awesome if they can let me customize by upload an mp3 file on it.
Japanese Games Localization - PS Vita has a great potential to be the greatest (irony PS motto "greatness awaits") but half of the awesome games from Japan won't see a light in stateside. It took Hatsune Miku Project Diva f 2 years to be released with a help of online petition from fans in facebook. If im not mistaken i think petition signed went 1 million. I've been longing for old games like Phantasy Star Online 2 & Senran Kagura to be localized but possibility is bleak. Might give up Sword Art Online & Magica Madoka won't be released as well *sigh*
Internet Browser - subpar compared to android & google. it loads a little slow & has errors when i click a link.

Overall, positivity weighs more than negative on my review. Im no sony fanboi or anything since i don't own PS3 & PS4 either (since i own a gaming PC). Its just an honest review on how PS Vita is pretty much better on mobile console gaming.
My current game library are:
physical copy - killzone merc, persona 4 golden, ragnarok odyssey, soul sacrifice, uncharted GA, walking dead, resistance BS, unit 13, gravity rush, AC 3 liberation, sonic transformed, little big planet, sly cooper TT
digital copy - dead of alive 5+, atelier totori+, hatsune miku PD <3, metal gear solid HD, dragon's crown, valhalla knights 3, dynasty warriors next, earth defense force portable, need for speed MW, playstation all-stars BR, dungeon hunter alliance, new little king story, epic mickey 2
mostly i games i bought are at discounted prices & i didn't even include psp/ps1 games & ps plus games that i got.

Okay. First of all. The Vita is as amazing as people say it is. I have been an Nintendo fan for a looong time. I've always appreciated xbox and playstation consoles and games, but mostly because of money constraints, I kept up with Nintendo's products. Black Friday came around and this sweet deal came down to 180$. NO. REGRETS. Even for 250$, This is probably a great buy. I say 'probably' not to reflect to quality of the product, but to reflect how you look at your wallet.

Getting to the details,

I'll start with AC3: Liberation.
I've never played assassin's creed before. So this game was a new experience. For those of you who HAVEN'T played Assassin's Creed before, it's a good series. The 'parkor', if you will, is pretty cool in of itself. You can run around and virtually climb ANYTHING. And the climbing is realistic, there is no: I'll climb this wall, and my character will do a general Climbing action. Every step and grab on a structure lines up with a crack or prop. The fighting is pretty cool too. It took me a little while to get used to counters and I admit I'm still not the best hand to hand fighter, I rely on long range weapons more than 50% of the time. The story is pretty good and the missions have variety with the different conditions (use sword, don't get detected, take no damage {that one really gets me...}) And if you don't like blood, I'm 99% certain you can turn off blood under the main menu options.
For those of you who HAVE played other Assassin's Creed be mindful of a few things.
(I've watched a friend play through AC1 and some of 2)
First, as far as I can tell, there is no Desmond storyline. Aveline's story is cool in of itself, but if you are looking for out-of-animus scenes, you'll be disappointed. There is no trace that you are a past life or anything like that. I've beaten the game with the fake ending, so unless the real ending has a considerable amount of story change, this game is simply a spinoff.
However. It's worth it. Amazing gameplay. The friend that I watched play the other games in the series commented that Aveline moves noticeably faster, which I agree with. In general, other than the lacking of Desmond, it's a step forward I believe.

Getting to the VITA itself:
This system is the most beautiful, classy, professional, and overall best video game system I've ever owned. (The white version is crazy pretty.)
I've loved the Nintendo systems I've owned, but they are lacking in good games now-a-days and it seems I'm moving on. There aren't so many Vita games out yet. But I own AS3: Liberation, BlazBlue Extend, and Gravity Rush and am eyeing the new Need for Speed game.
I've made this review long enough, but I'll stress a few things. This system is sleek and professional. It's like the handheld-video-gameversion of a nice car such as a BMW or an Audi. The resolution is just UN-BE-LIVEABLE. It's like an HD TV in your hand. (I don't know if it's considered 'HD', but the OLED screen perhaps the best feature, as good as everything else is.)
controls are build well. I mean... DUAL ANALOG STICKS. Need I say more? yes? Well they are put to good use. The left stick isn't just a replacement for the control pad, it has different uses depending on the game; very much like a PS3.
I'm not sure how I can say more about how simply awesome the system is...

Important note: MEMORY CARDS
This is a small bit of advice that ANYONE and EVERYONE who wants to buy a Vita needs to know in that back of their head.
The only memory cards for the Vita are the ones available from Sony. No other 3rd party brands. And they are quite pricey.
BUT, unlike so many reviews and descriptions of the memory cards say YOU ARE FINE WITH ONE CARD. That is: if you buy the physical game cards; the amount of save file taken up is very very small. If you download full games however, go out and buy the 16 or 32 GB card.
There is also the PS store with PSP and PSone downloads. Which are very tempting. (I will be buying some of these soon...)

My advice:
Buy a bundle such as this that come with a 4GB Memory card. (make sure it does in fact, I've heard rumors that some bundles have had memory cards secretly removed.) And buy physical games. Then perhaps buy another card for downloads. (depending on how many you are planning on getting.)
Downloading games are just cheaper than buying the physical game, but you'll be spending that money on a memory card. It's a matter of preference I suppose.

You could also get a normal Vita with a 8GB card but you will mostly certainly need another if you download a lot.

FINAL WORDS: GET A VITA!!!

I picked up this item a few years into it's life now. Good library of available titles. This version of the system (white PS vita with OLED screen) is probably the one to grab if you want to start up now, before you get stuck with only LCD models available, as the screen is gorgeous. Only minor quibble is that AC3:Liberation didn't come with a game case.

I really love the PSV its color is great and a fun all-around experience, but I don't like AC3 very much, It has ok graphics and the story is very hard to follow and you seem to start in the middle of a story with no background. I wish they would have just kept going with the same Idea of AC: Brotherhood and 2/3

But, good price, just what I was looking for, good buy
