Tronco do Ferrador (Horseshoer's trunk)

As the name implies, the horseshoer’s trunk was an essential tool used by the farrier to care for horses's feet. It is currently located in an old blacksmith shop.

Equine hoof care consists of the trimming and balancing of horses' hooves, so they retain proper foot function. This is particularly important if the animal has a heavy work load and, in this case, essential for the animals to roam in the harshest terrain and paths of the mountains. The main tools used by a farrier include, among others, a forge and tongs, an anvil and hammer, clinchers, hoof nippers, a hoof knife, a rasp, and a stand.
