This prototype tractor was developed in collaboration with Monarch Tractor, a strategic partner with CNH Industrial. While this prototype is branded for New Holland, this model will extend to the Case IH brand as well. "The T4 Electric Power is the ideal solution for lower horsepower operations," says Marc Kermisch, chief digital and information officer for CNH Industrial. "It is suited to mixed farm, livestock, municipality, orchard and specialty applications. We know our customers are eager to adopt this type of product, so it makes perfect sense for us to continue our ag electrification journey with this platform." The T4 Electric Power joins New Holland's lineup of alternative power tractors, which includes the T6 Methane Power tractor, and the T7 Methane Power LNG tractor. How it performs The T4 Electric Power tractor is 4-wheel drive, with a max speed of almost 25 mph. Its electric motor can hit up to 120 hp., with a max torque of up to 440 Nm. Electric outlets on the tractor can be used for hand tools like welders and drills, and can double as a backup power generator when needed. According to CNH Industrial, the T4 tractor has smoother shuttling and gear shifts when compared to similar sized diesel tractors, and can reduce operating costs by up to 90%. Operational noise and vibration has been reduced on the T4. Autonomous functions The T4 Electric Power's autonomous and automated features make use of an array of sensors, cameras, and control units. This enables farmers to activate the tractor remotely with a smartphone app. Some of the features include a shadow feature that syncs machines together, a 360-degree perception system to avoid obstacles, and telematics and auto-guidance to keep all functions in check. Autonomous functions also enable fleet management, letting the farm manager assign tasks to each piece of equipment.
