At Agresa, given our extensive experience in generating sets, we have realised that, after the installation of emergency generating sets, the installations with which they are associated often change. This can result in the power of the generating set no longer being sufficient due to the changes made and, in the event of a blackout, we cannot count on the service they offer us.
In addition, it is common for emergency generating sets to be tested with no electrical load (no-load), which can lead to a build-up of carbon deposits in the exhaust duct, resulting in reduced performance over time.
Therefore, it is important to test with resistive load banks to ensure the performance of these generator sets and to guarantee their operation when they are needed most. Load banks are the most reliable way to guarantee the good performance of gensets and to rule out possible errors that could not be detected by preventive maintenance.
This is the case of the facilities at the Topas Penitentiary Centre, where the Agresa team carried out a series of load bank tests on its emergency generator sets. These groups are of vital importance for maintaining the centre’s power supply in the event of a blackout, and their operation must be guaranteed.
Thanks to these tests, the necessary corrective maintenance was carried out to ensure their good performance and the equipment was left 100% operational.
