Science behind it
AfroRoots DNA aims to provide the broadest and deepest possible coverage of genetic diversity on the African continent, with an emphasis on populations that are related to the African Diaspora. We are unique in that we analyze autosomal, and uni-parental markers to infer sub-continental ancestry results particularly within Africa.
Our laboratory partners have decades of experience in the genetics field, with ultra-secure measures in place. Data safety is just as important to us as it is to our clients.
AfroRoots® already has access to a proprietary reference panel of thousands of samples from populations throughout the African continent. We look to continue collaborating with stakeholders engaging in DNA collection efforts taking place around the continent. The purpose being to use genome sequence, or whole genome genotype data generated to serve as reference panels, to support the inference of genetic ancestry and origins for African descendants in the Americas.
