In this study, ZnO nanoparticles were synthesized using metal acetate, egg white as bio-template in water under microwave irradiation followed by cal-cination at 700 °C. The obtained ZnO nanoparticles with hexagonal wurtzite structure were characterized by XRD, SEM, TEM, TGA/DSC, FT-IR techniques. The photocatalytic activity of ZnO nanoparticles was evaluated by photocatalytic degradation of Congo red as organic dye pollutant under UV-light irradiation within 40 min. It was found that, the kinetic of photocatalytic behaviour of ZnO is first order. The stability and reusability of the prepared catalyst was considerable.

The biosynthesis of oxide semiconductor nanoparticles (NPs) using materials found in nature opens a wide field of study focused on sustainability and environmental protection. Biosynthesized NPs have the capacity to eliminate organic dyes, which pollute water and cause severe damage to the environment. In the present work, the green synthesis of zinc oxide (ZnO) NPs was carried out using Capsicum annuum var. Anaheim extract. The photocatalytic elimination of methylene blue (MB), methyl orange (MO), and Rhodamine B (RhB) in UV radiation was evaluated. The materials were characterized by scanning and transmission electron microscopy (SEM and TEM) and SEM-coupled energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS), attenuated total reflectance-infrared (ATR-IR), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), X-ray diffraction (XRD), Photoluminescence (PL), and ultraviolet-visible spectroscopy (UV-Vis). The TEM analysis showed the NPs have an average size of 40 nm and quasi-spherical shape. ATR-IR showed the...

Photocatalysis has attracted significant attention as a potential issue for the degradation of toxic organic pollutants such as Congo Red. In this research spherical Pure ZnO nano particles and Ni-Co-ZnO nano composites (Zn0.95Ni0.04Co0.01O, Zn0.95Ni0.025Co0.025O and Zn0.95Ni0.01Co0.04O) have been synthesized by precipitation method. X- ray diffraction, Fourier transform Infra Red ,field emission scanning electron microscopy, EDX and ICP analysis confirmed the structure and composition of the samples. The x-ray diffraction analysis (XRD) showed that all samples prepared were about Wurtzite structure and average crystal size of 17nm. Field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM) analysis revealed the spherical shape of all samples. The Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) revealed bands at 435 cm-1, 480 cm-1 and 525 cm-1 are related to Zn-O bonds, related to the stretching vibrating bonds of ZnO. The results illustrated the Ni and Co ions substituted the Zn ions ...
In this work, the assessment of Azadirachta indica, Tagetes erecta, Chrysanthemum morifolium, and Lentinula edodes extracts as catalysts for the green synthesis of zinc oxide nanoparticles (ZnO NPs) was performed. The photocatalytic properties of ZnO NPs were investigated by the photodegradation of methylene blue (MB) dye under sunlight irradiation. UV-visible (UV-Vis) spectroscopy, Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM), X-ray Diffraction (XRD), Thermogravimetric (TGA), and Brunauer-Emmett-Teller analysis (BET) were used for the characterization of samples. The XRD results indicate that all synthesized nanoparticles have a hexagonal wurtzite crystalline structure, which was confirmed by TEM. Further, TEM analysis proved the formation of spherical and hemispherical nanoparticles of ZnO with a size in the range of 14–32 nm, which were found in aggregate shape; such a size was well below the size of the particles synthesized with no extr...

Photocatalytic Degradation of a Basic Dye Using Zinc Oxide NanocatalystThe potential of Calcinated and uncalcinated zinc oxide as effective Photocatatlyst for the degradation of malachite green dye, MG from aqueous medium using UV light has been identified. The photocatalysts were characterized using scanning electron microscope, SEM and x-ray diffraction, XRD. The SEM investigations of the calcinated ZnO revealed highly dispersed nanomaterials and the particles were of nanometer size in agreement with the XRD result. The uncalcinated zinc oxide, ZnO revealed some pronounced nanoparticles. The degradation of MG by the photocatalyst was found to be influenced by adsorbent loading and irradiating time. The optimum degradation was obtained at 0.5g catalyst loading of both calcinated and uncalcinated zinc oxide which is 98.48% and 96.31 % respectively at 150 minutes. The degradation kinetics conformed to the pseudo-first-order kinetic model. The present study showed that calcinated and uncalcinated zinc oxide ZnO can be effectively used as efficient photoc...

The theme of the present investigation is photocatalytic degradation of organic dyes such as methylene blue and methyl orange in the presence of a catalyst like ZnO under UV light irradiation. The nanosized ZnO is prepared by three different methods namely sol–gel, precipitation and thermal decomposition method. The synthesized samples are calcinated at uniform temperature and are characterized by different techniques. Further, the efficiency of the catalyst and their photocatalytic mechanism are discussed in detail.
— Nanotechnology is promising field in waste water treatment. The aim of this study thus was to assess the use of synthesized ZnO nanoparticles in photo degradation of dyes under fluorescent light source of irradiation. on the surface of zinc oxide nanoparticles. The basis of ZnO/UV photo-catalytic process is the semi-conduct optical stimulation of ZnO as a result of electromagnetic ray absorption. Precipitation technique was used to synthesize ZnO nanoparticles. By varying experimental conditions two samples L 1 and L 2 were synthesized. They were characterized using Power X-ray Diffraction (PXRD). The PXRD results showed diffraction peaks which were indexed to ZnO reference as per JCPIDS file 80-0075. The size of ZnO nanoparticles was found to be 26 nm. The effect of process parameters like, amount of the photocatalyst, initial dye concentration and contact time on the extent of photodegradation have been investigated. The results showed that percentage removal of the dye increases with increase in contact time and amount of photocatalyst, it decreases with increase in initial dye concentration. The results revealed that dyes could be removed by semiconducting nanomaterials assisted by photocatalytic degradation.
