We've got a lot of fun letter ideas for the long “ay” sound! Try some of these crafts or activities to reinforce the long “ay” sound.
Clay Letter Activity
Modeling clay is such a wonderful tactile way to reinforce the “ay” sound! Encourage your child to sculpt letters and/or words that include the “ay” sound! For an extra challenge, write “ay” words on a sheet of paper, like play, tray, or day, and challenge your child to sculpt something that represents those words. Afterwards, enjoy some free play together!
Night & Day Picture
Simple and easy, this craft is sure to lighten things up! All you need are a blue sheet of construction paper, a black sheet of construction paper, a white crayon, and a yellow crayon—or white and yellow chalk (which may be messier, but they’re also so much fun!). Encourage your child to draw their version of day and night, paying special attention to the “ay” sound in day!
