Antonín Dvořák was a Czech composer renowned for his nationalistic sound.

The composer enjoyed great success locally and internationally, helped by the influence of fellow composer Brahms in getting Dvořák’s works performed in the early stages of his career.

Dvořák married in 1873, having nine children, and was a devoted husband and father. Towards the end of his career, Dvořák worked as a teacher in Prague and later in New York City. After a return to his native Bohemia, Dvořák was celebrated as a national hero before his passing at the age of 62.

Astronaut Neil Armstrong brought a tape recording of the symphony along with him on the Apollo 11 mission that first landed humans on the moon.
