New signing Romain Amalfitano on what convinced him to make the move to Western Sydney and his goals for the upcoming season.
Amalfitano makes the move from Saudi Professional League side Al-Faisaly where he has played for the last two seasons.
The Kings Cup winner said he was ready to embrace a new experience when he received a phone call from head coach Mark Rudan.
“I wanted to discover another league and a new culture for my family,” explained Amalfitano.
“Then I had head coach Mark Rudan on the phone who convinced me to come to Western Sydney because he has ambitions for the club and fans.”
Having played the last two seasons in Asia, Amalfitano knows what to expect when he arrives in Western Sydney.
“I know the A-Leagues is a tough and physical league,” explained Amalfitano.
“I also know there are a lot of fans and an incredible atmosphere in the stadium. I am very excited to start the season.”
With the Wanderers set to commence their pre-season preparations in the coming month, Amalfitano already has his sights set on having the best season possible for the Red & Black.
“I hope to have the best possible season, but I am a team player so the most important thing is that we go as far as possible in our objectives which will be set by head coach Mark Rudan,” said Amalfitano.
“I hope that we do an incredible job and that we enjoy every moment but at the same time, want the best performance as a team.”
