The ETSU softball team jumped out to a quick lead in their Southern Conference tournament opener on Wednesday afternoon against Samford.
The 7th seeded Bucs scored two runs in the top of the first inning, however Samford answered with two runs of their own in the bottom of the first.
Samford, the 2nd seed in the tournament, added two more runs in the second inning to take a 4-2 lead.
There would be no more runs scored after that, as the Bucs fall 4-2.
ETSU drops to the losers bracket and will play 3rd seeded Furman on Thursday morning in an elimination game.
