This image of an Absol (a variety of Pokemon) was an exercise in digital cel shading. It began as a pencil drawing which I scanned and then traced and colored digitally. I was able to use images from official Pokemon media as sources for the colour palette. However, I’ve made this one quite a bit shaggier than the canonical depiction.
Absol is one of my favorite Pokemon, both in appearance and concept. I remember watching the Pokemon TV show, way back when the first season was broadcast (I even had a Pikachu doll). I still keep up with the franchise, as one of my earliest forays into Japanese media.
