Pantano de Benagéber

19th of February

Let’s go to Benageber reservoir to do the route along the Turia river canyon, walk on the hanging bridge and contemplate a small waterfall – Chorros de Barchel.

We’ll meet in Valencia in the parking lot on av. Aragón in front of Mestalla stadium and drive to Tuéjar. Once there, we’ll have a cup of coffee in a bar before starting the hike.

We will need to drive a bit more to get to the start of the route – the Benagéber reservoir. The hike starts with easy walking along a wide road, overlooking the Túria river. Soon, we’ll get to Chorros de Barchel – a set of waterfalls that give name to this hike. Next, we’ll descend towards the river and cross to the other side with the help of a hanging bridge. Here we will need to go up, but a stop for lunch will await us once we finish the ascent. Towards the end of the hike we will pass by almond groves, now in full bloom. And at the very end of the hike we’ll get the best view of the whole trail – the canyon made by the Túria river and the Benagéber reservoir. Finally, we’ll go to Tuéjar to have a post-hike drink and then return to Valencia.
