beatmania / IIDX / III- 20, novemberExplanation"20, november" is a song from the original beatmania, named after the birthday of the composer, dj nagureo. As a result, November 20 has become a pseudo-holiday of sorts for BEMANI fans.
- Rislim -Remix- ExplanationWhen user Azure posted on VJ Army that he really wanted to play the song in question, people poked fun at him for worshiping the song.
- Is 69 easier with Hard on? ExplanationOnce again, Azure posted for help on Innocent Wall's stupid 69th measure with that response.
- SoflanExplanationThe song "Soft Landing on the Body" is infamous for its abrupt BPM changes, to the point that ソフラン ("soflan") became a term among players for other songs with similar speed changes. Has been referenced in the titles of several other BEMANI songs (including a remix of another song by the same artist as "Soft Landing on the Body" that was titled the "Soft Landing Mix", and a Camellia song on Sound Voltex). IIDX 27 includes a trait named "SOF-LAN" on its new Groove Radar-esque statistics graph.
- You can't spell Revival without V! ExplanationV, originally from the arcade version of Beatmania IIDX 5th Style, went on to reappear in a large number of console IIDX releases. While reapparances of songs in arcade versions are the norm, to have a song come back multiple times in console versions, which have much smaller songlists (and thus revivals are fewer and further in between), V in particular, it comes off as silly. Naturally, "V" was revived for the alpha test of the long, long overdue beatmania IIDX INFINITAS.
- Last Message: proving men can't watch two things at once since 7th Style.ExplanationLast Message's video features a three second cleavage shot which caused many people to drop their combo, because the players were ostensibly Distracted by the Sexy. The video was dropped for the CS Gold release to avoid the rating going up, despite it being in 7th Style CS and flying under the radar of the Japanese censors.
- Sense 2007 ExplanationA boss song from IIDX Gold, which also caused Distracted by the Sexy moments due to its unique video which involves women in tight gold dresses dancing with fans. The video, again, was dropped for the CS release.
- DaiExplanationOn the male side of things, Dai is a dancer who appears in several IIDX and DanceDanceRevolution videos, and is known for his flamboyant moves. Two videos in particular show him topless.
- ExpandedExplanationA song from IIDX CANNON BALLERS, which features a belly dancer throughout the whole song.
- Himiko? FUCK THAT SHIT! PABST BLUE RIBBON! ExplanationA reaction to Empress' hardest song. It turned into a Forced Meme and quickly became stale.
- Preview song: Setsugekka ExplanationWhen 7th style CS was finally ready to come out of Development Hell, a number of songs from 8th style and 9th style AC (which had already been released to the arcades) were included as preview songs. An ultimately-false rumour was spread that Setsugekka, a song from the then-recent 10th style AC, would also been included. People continue to joke about Setsugekka being a preview song in every single console BEMANI Game.
- smooooch・∀・ ExplanationOne of the most popular BEMANI songs for remixing out there, next to "RED ZONE".
- WAAAAAAAAAAAHH!! MOOOOUUUUU IYA DA!ExplanationThis video of someone playing "Scorpion Fire", and failing very near the end, has become associated with the song.
- They can change the grades to "cat" and "sailboat" for all I care, so long as the timing and EX scoring is the same. ExplanationUpon the us release of Beatmania IIDX, everyone noticed how AA's were AAA's, A's were AA's and so on. When VJ Army made a "US Mode" that made all of the grades AAA, cue someone posting this. Then we get catsailboat mode
- Truck me~ ExplanationWhen lineouts of Injection Of Love from Red started to get posted, everyone seriously thought Sana said "Truck Me" (at 1:03 in the linked vid)
- Kyle Snyder / Mirror Force / Engulfed Beam / You Can't Escape Me ExplanationAround 8th style, Konami held a musicianship trial. Kyle Snyder, a prolific DDR freestylist, made the song Mirror Force (cause he had a dream passing the song on IIDX), which was best described as ear rape.
- Laundry Machines ExplanationA low-quality video of "gigadelic" from a location test led to one person remarking that the song sounds like "an off-balance washing machine", as demonstrated in this vid
- When Sega unveiled its new arcade music game maimai, many users joked that its cabinet looked like a washing machine. Of course, the English-language community also got to make jokes about it possibly having "gigadelic" on it too. This is acknowledged by Sega during the Tenkaichi otogesai Zenkoku issei nintei taikai event as the reason why they chose water element for its final round song composition.
- Within the context of 8th Dan courses, gigadelic has become infamous for another reason.
- What gigadelic is to 8th Dan, THE SAFARI is to 7th Dan, only dating back to the beginning of the Kyu and Dan Ranks system that began in 7th Style.
- Safari RefugeesExplanation7th Dan in IIDX is notorious for being so difficult to complete due to THE SAFARI that there are players who can complete 8th Dan but not 7th Dan. In Japan, players who do this are known as サファリ難民 (Safari nanmin, lit. "Safari Refugees").
- テレテレテッテExplanation"Tereteretette", an onomotopeia that represents THE SAFARI's infamous trills.
- "Oh my god, I'm going to Africa!"ExplanationIn 2006, Chaddly uploaded a video of him playing THE SAFARI on Doubles, while hilariously trying to sing along to the music.
- "Kaiden omedetou" Explanation A celebratory remark whenever someone passed Mei SPA's infamous soflan section, especially during the Kaiden course. This is because this section determines how would you qualify as a Kaiden player; after that one part ends, the next one is a breather section, and thus congratulating for passing the hardest section of the chart (and therefore, the final dan course).
- Peview
- GXPERT
- BRGINNER ExplanationA deliberate Call-Back featured in IIDX 21: SPADA
- BLCOKS
- Rche's genderExplanationRche's Ambiguous Gender is a hot topic amongst IIDX fans. Incidentally, Rche's also by far one of the most popular Lincle characters, especially on art sites like Pixiv.
- 78%ExplanationIn IIDX, you need a Groove Gauge of 80% or above to clear the song. Percentages are in 2% increments, making 78% the highest gauge you can have and still fail the song. Naturally, this has led to many players ragequitting because they got a 78% and not an 80%.
- _____†LEGGENDARIAExplanationBeginning with an update in beatmania IIDX 21 SPADA, the Spada†leggendaria series of Extra Stage boss songs received "†LEGGENDARIA" charts that are considerably harder than their Another charts. †LEGGENDARIA charts get their own entry on the songwheel, with the title in the format of "(song name)†LEGGENDARIA". Naturally, players took to suffixing various songs with "†LEGGENDARIA" as a joke, from "5.1.1. LEGGENDARIA" to "Mei LEGGENDARIA"; one Vine video, NANDEMO LEGGENDARIA (that is, "Anything✝LEGGENDARIA") has someone printing out the ✝LEGGENDARIA logo and tacking it onto a bunch of things. As a side note, "leggendaria" means "legendary" in Italian.
- SUPER STAR -満- MITSURUExplanationTAG's alternate persona: a shades-wearing, white-clad campy Large Ham dancer.
- She is my wifeExplanationThe title is a meme in and of itself, and can be crossed over with the "waifu" meme. In addition, the song features a particularly memorable dance segment featuring MITSURU and several other BEMANI musicians.
- ONLY ONE _____ExplanationAll of MITSURU's IIDX songs have all-caps genres beginning with "ONLY ONE". In addition, there's the album ONLY ONE ACT.
- Shocked dj TAKA Explanationin the video for"SA.YO.NA.RA. SUPER STAR", dj TAKA's shocked face is shown for a few seconds at the end.
- BEISU DOROPPU! HAI! HAI! HAI! HAI! HAI! HAI! HAI! HAI!ExplanationThe drumstep (a portmanteau of "drum 'n bass" and "dubstep") song "Bassdrop Freaks" by Camellia feat. nanahira has proven to be exceptionally catchy.
- GAMBOL JudgementExplanation When the song "GAMBOL" was introduced to IIDX, it was notorious for its unusually strict timing windows, resulting in the player getting so many GOODs rather than PERFECT GREATs or even just GREATs. When it was revived in 9th Style, the timing windows remained broken. The notorious timing became something of an Ascended Meme when the NORMAL charts' timing was fixed, but the HYPER charts' were not. Konami then milked the meme for all its worth in the console port of IIDX RED with special ANOTHER charts for the song, in which any hit lower than a PERFECT GREAT turns into a BAD instead. Later console releases allow the player to apply the timing windows of GAMBOL's HYPER and ANOTHER charts to any chart with a cheat code.
- DaisukeExplanationOn Vine, the #Daisuke tag consists of Bait-and-Switch clips that suddenly cut to the "Daisuke" line from the Y&Co. song "Daisuke" (or alternatively, the "Daisuke" line from another Y&Co. song "TA・DA ☆ YO・SHI") right as someone pronounces the 'D' consonant, or as someone on screen appears to strike a pose similar to any of two very prominent poses in the "Daisuke" video. Usually for full effect the interruption takes place as someone says daisuki (Japanese for "I like/love you") or a name ending in "-suke". According to the composer, its lyrics originally said "Daisuki" (大好き) instead of "Daisuke". He changed it during the vocals recording because he felt that "Daisuke" fit better and would make the song memorable.
- LinkleExplanationWhen the November 2015 Nintendo Direct revealed a Gender Flip Link called "Linkle", comparisons to beatmania IIDX 19 Lincle by the BEMANI community were inevitable.
- The unveiling of the theme for version 25, "Cannon Ballers", was immediately meant with jokes and parodies related to its motorsports theme, including crossovers with Daytona USA, Initial D, and even Steel Ball Run.
- Battleground / blowing up KONAMIExplanationA meme that originated in the Chinese community, Battleground's BGA features a figure running away from an explosion, so jokes about blowing up KONAMI's HQ were made.
- BMSExplanationBMS (Be-Music Source) files are files used for beatmania simulators such as Lunatic Rave 2, and while there are many good BMS charts, there are a ton of bad ones as well. As such, charts that are not only very difficult but also very awful are dismissed as "BMS-quality" charts. Such examples include Mare Nectaris, EMERALDAS, EROICA (all three on SPA), Sigmund LEGGENDARIA, and MENDES Black Another.
- TWINKROOMExplanationIn January 2022, the second station of the CastHour SPACE unlock system was revealed to be named "Twinkroom". While this could be a pun of "twinkle" (given the space/electronic themes of the system), this came off as an Unfortunate Name to those who knew a certain other definition of the word, leading to an almost immediate wave of jokes from the English-speaking fandom.
- "LOVE B.B.B." has become an infrequent source for remixes and YTPMVs.
- [Flexible Hybrid Polymer] Garden HoseExplanationThe packaging of Flexzilla-brand hoses inexplicably have text that uses the same fonts, formatting, and colors as the genre and title display from the beatmania IIDX user interface.
DanceDanceRevolution
- MAX 300ExplanationOn a certain Facebook group related to music game memeing, MAX 300 has become the memetic song of choice, both as a measure of difficulty ("MAX 300 is the hardest song, no one can pass it!") and as a universal answer to everything.
- Xepher Tatsh ExplanationA DanceDance Revolution player achieves his 800th AAA rank on "Xepher", a song by Tatsh, and posts a picture of it on his Facebook timeline. The photo is shared but the song is erroneously called "Xepher Tatsh"◊...by the official DDR Facebook page.
- Bar huggingExplanationA historic point of debate amongst DDR players is whether using the safety bar to improve one's balance and scores is fair or detracts from the game experience. At one point, less tasteful players referred to it as "bar raping".
- LET THEM MOVEExplanationA song that made its debut on DDR 2ndMIX of... questionable quality. Naoki Maeda, the creator of the song, even stated he was ashamed of the end result, and the song has not appeared in any installment after the release of DDR KONAMIX.
- We Drink RitalinExplanationThe John Desire cover of T.M.Revolution's "Hot Limit" is a playable song in DDR 5th MIX and was well-known by DDR players of the early 2000's for its misinterpreted lyrics, which became the subject of a viral Flash video.
- ◎◎◎◎◎◎
◎◎◎◎◎◎
◎◎◎◎◎◎Explanation"POSSESSION" has several segments where the player must hit streams of triplet notes. During those parts, the background video changes to show a grid of spawning purple circles against a black background, eventually forming a 6 x 3 grid. - Dash Hopes 440ExplanationOn DDR 2014, the Replicant D-Ignition event's main boss song, "EGOISM 440", has been compared to Dash Hopes. Even more ironic is that one of the other songs actually is titled "Destination". Cue the Mungyodance jokes.
- "DDR is dead"ExplanationEven after DDR A saw international release to much fanfare and the North American dance game community has significantly grown, some people still like to claim DDR is dead in the US, to the point that the phrase "DDR is dead" has become a meme.
- USA! USA! USA! USA!ExplanationThe participation of three American finalists in the DDR tournament, one of which became champion, at the 6th Konami Arcade Championship prompted chants of these from Eastern and Western viewers alike during the stream.
- 20!ExplanationTwo reasonings here. First, players believe there should be a level 20 stepchart because of DDR X's level bar meter going up to 20, yet 18 was the highest at its time and DDRX2 got rid of the bar meter as an indicator. Second, every time a song rated a Level 19 on DDR occurs, players who believe the stepchart is absurdly hard claim that those charts should be Level 20. Unfortunately, the game does not have that many Level 19 charts, often reserved for the true final boss songs.
- DO NOT ESCAPE FROM ENDYMION/ENDYMION KARA NIGERUN NA
- Two up arrows ExplanationIn July 2018, Konami finally established a Twitter account for the series; one of the very first posts included a stock image of the cabinet where, for some reason, the second player's left arrow is rotated upwards. Cue the defictionalization.
- DDR 420 ExplanationAlmost immediately after DDR A20 was announced, people had already edited the logo to make the obvious, marijuana-related joke, given the positioning of the A.
- "bag nightcore"ExplanationA bizarre meme originating from the UK community, which has led to "bag" being a highly requested song on BEMANI-based meme/edit pages.
- DDR 5 ExplanationWhen DDR V for PC was announced, PC Gamer accidentally thought it was another name for DDR 5 based on roman numerals. To this day, the URL still states 5 instead of V. Alternatively, people thought it was related to DJ Taka's V song.
- "milquetoast 19"ExplanationA description of the controversial Expert 17 chart of "Jucunda Memoria" on A20 Plus by a YouTube user.
- "DDR Alpha 3"ExplanationA description of the "3" logo looking like the "3" from Street Fighter Alpha 3
- "Lemon" ExplanationA cover of Kenshi Yonezu's "Lemon" was announced for DDR Grand Prix in late-April 2022, leading to a promo image on the game's Twitter account being noticed by Western players, repatedly replying to it with the word "Lemon".
- 3 Arrows at once!!ExplanationMegalovania's Single Challenge chart has an instance where 1 line contains 3 notes at once: A hold arrow and a jump. To most people's knowledge, this is their first time seeing this in a 4-Panel DDR Game. Many have forgotten about Dancing Stage's Uh La La La, which was an unintended bug, many years back, and short-lived that people didn't even know the song existed. DDR Solo (6-panel) had a few songs with 3-4 arrow at once, but it involved the diagonals where it is much easier to use feet to hit 2 arrows at once and was used sparingly. Even so, DDR Solo was quickly forgotten over the years. Other panel games not from Konami such as Pump It Up, In the Groove, and StepManiaX all have 3 or more panels at once as a standard, either forcing hands or brackets.
pop'n music
- SRII, TSUU, WAN, PUUUUUUUUUUUUSHU!ExplanationSunny Park's interactive tutorial, which plays even when demo mode sound is turned off, was met with more derision than anything.
- TOXIC VIBRATION†LAPISTORIAExplanation In Pop'n Music Lapistoria, the song "TOXIC VIBRATION" had an early version of the EX chart stored where the EASY chart should be. This led to a... pretty hard level 10 (out of 50) chart. pop'n players used this name to describe the chart, a play on the †LEGGENDARIA charts.
SOUND VOLTEX
- SOUND VOLTEX's heavy use of the filter knob feature has become a meme in and of itself.
- WOOSH WOOSHExplanationThe preferred onomatopoeia for filter knobs among the community.
- KFCExplanationThe code name for SOUND VOLTEX BOOTH is "KFC", as in Kentucky Fried Chicken. This meme mostly surged in popularity after SOUND VOLTEX BOOTH was cracked and made available for home use on certain websites.
- 69%ExplanationIn SOUND VOLTEX, 70% is the minimum required gauge to clear. This time, percentages are in 1% increments. It's not only the new 78%, but 69 also happens to be a particularly lewd number.
- PHQUASE trapsExplanationThe most common definition of this is a filter knob pattern which appears to be a crossover, but both knob trails turn back on themselves after meeting in the middle (think >< instead of X). SDVX "effector" (chart maker) and composer, PHQUASE, does a lot of these, along with similar filter knob traps.
- Universe StageExplanationA song in SOUND VOLTEX BOOTH, which has a particularly annoying button pattern that is very easy to miss on. People who can usually pass most 15 even find this one difficult.
- O-oooooooooo AAAAE-A-A-I-A-U- JO-oooooooooooo AAE-O-A-A-U-U-A- E-eee-ee-eee AAAAE-A-E-I-E-A- JO-ooo-oo-oo-oo EEEEO-A-AAA-AAAAExplanationBrain Power, a song by NOMA from infinite infection, has gained massive popularity from Internet users in early 2016, leading its long version to become the most viewed BEMANI song on YouTube. The reason why is because of the osu! players on twitch who have played the beatmap and of course people would spam the ending lyrics on the comments section.
- NO-oooooooooo AAAAE-A-A-I-A-U-JO-oooooooooooo AAE-O-A-A-U-U-A-E-eee-ee-eee AAAAE-A-E-I-E-A-JO-ooo-oo-oo-oo EEEEO-A-AAA-AAAAExplanationWhen the official SDVX Twitter account announced that Brain Power would be part of a series of songs being cut from the game in one week, fans were...not happy, to say the least. However, the song would then get picked up by the non-Konami music game Neon FM, whose developers' treatment of the song reaches Ascended Meme territory.
- Call me a leader, cocaineExplanationAnother line of note from the same song, simply due to the out-of-nowhere drug reference.
- Call me a leader, (BLEEP)Explanation"Cocaine" is awkwardly censored out with a bleep in Groove Coaster: WaiWai Party, presumably to keep the game's content ratings reasonable.
- SOMEONE WHO MEMES YOU HARDExplanationA mishearing of the sample used in Crack Traxxxx - "Someone you know is watching your every move... someone who means you harm!" Pretty much every video with the song has this in the comments.
- I Hate Rasis, Her Tits Are Too BigExplanationOne player posted a bizarre tirade about Rasis, SDVX's primary character, with a primary reason being her overly large breasts.
- MUXIMUMExplanationIn SDVX IV, much like GXPERT and BRGINNER in IIDX, selecting an Omega Dimension song on MXM level will display MUXIMUM as its difficulty instead of MAXIMUM.
- Dyscontrolled Galaxy is a 20!ExplanationOne of the Omega Dimension songs in SDVX IV, which has a MXM level of 19 but many players find the chart too hard even for a high tier 19, leading to people saying it's a level 20, some even a 21.
- Joyeuse VVDExplanationSimilar to Dyscontrolled Galaxy MXM, Joyeuse VVD is known among the community for being misrated as an 18 even though has a lower rate of clears and high grades than most 19s (the exception being Dyscontrolled Galaxy) and several 20s.
Dance Rush
- Konami having trouble coming up with a final name for it
- The first iteration, Stepstar, was unveiled on the same day as an extended preview of Splatoon 2. Jokes were immediately made that the game was a "ripoff" of a DDR parody present in the lobby of said game.
- Dance Rush is amazing to play on! ExplanationElectronic musician Slushii inquired on Twitter if DDR was still alive, and was met with this response from the Konami account. The line was used as a catchphrase for critiques about the amount of attention that Dance Rush was getting on launch, and concerns Konami intended it to eventually replace DDR entirely. Averted, however, as DDR A20 soon proved this was far from the truth.
- High-difficulty charts usually result in calls that the cabinets need a bar.
Multiple / Other
- Get It?! ExplanationPeople would notice the use of titles of songs in sentences, whether intentional or not.
- DJ YOSHITAKA:
- The ultimate memetic song of BEMANI: "FLOWER". It is infamous for its excessive crossing over into other rhythm games. In addition to its initial appearance on jubeat and REFLEC BEAT, it has also appeared on DanceDanceRevolution, pop'n music, beatmania IIDX, BeatStream, DanceEvolution, Miraidagakki FutureTomTom, GITADORAnote as a rock remix by TLION69, and SOUND VOLTEXnote as a remix by REDALiCE, due to a policy against putting non-remixed Konami originals into SDVX at the time.Yes, that means EVERY active BEMANI series. Just to add even more fuel to the fire, the 2013 BEMANI commercial plays FLOWER in the background.
It gets worse. The Tenkaichi otoge sai Zenkoku issei nintei taikai event is a Crossover event between multiple companies' rhythm games—specifically, jubeat saucer fulfill, maimai ORANGE, Taiko no Tatsujin Kimidori Ver., and Groove Coaster EX in 2014. The representative song from jubeat is "FLOWER". That's right, "FLOWER" even crosses over to non-Konami rhythm games!
Later, Konami added two of their songs into SEGA rhythm game CHUNITHM. One of them is "Chikuwa parfait da yo CKP" by Marika and Meu Meu from HinaBitter. The other is "FLOWER".
The next Tenkaichi otoge event saw "FLOWER" being put in Synchronica as well as SOUND VOLTEX alongside its REDALiCE-remixed form.
All in all, "FLOWER" has appeared in 15 (now 18) distinct rhythm game series by four different developers. Some would say it isn't just BEMANI's Signature Song but that of the entire Rhythm Game genre.- Those outside the BEMANI community may know "FLOWER" from a remix video of it using the famous "Yee" clip from the mockbuster Dinosaur Adventure entitled "Yee Mania". What's even funnier is that Yee Mania has more views than two videos of just the song.
- For the first beatmania IIDX INFINITAS alpha test, one song was brought in from later releases, which naturally was "FLOWER". It was sadly snipped from the final release, but was brought back later in a January 2016 update.
- FLOWER RevivalExplanationWhen it was announced that FLOWER would make its return to CHUNITHM with the release of CHUNITHM NEW, "FLOWER Revival" trended on Twitter. As a result, fans of the disbanded girl group also called FLOWER began looking for news that the group was reuniting, and caused the trend to rise even more with their disappointment.
- 185 BPMExplanationFor some reason, DJ YOSHITAKA is quite fond of composing songs that are 185 BPM—not every song he makes, but enough songs that it's turned into a joke. Although other artists compose songs that are 185 BPM, DJ YOSHITAKA is most commonly associated with the number.
- DJ YOSHITAKA's other "TRANCE CORE" and "HARD RENAISSANCE" songs are also quite infamous, due to being frequently crossed over and hyped up as boss songs. "JOMANDA" and "VALLIS-NERIA" are particularly infamous; the latter was anticipated to be crossed over into IIDX for many months, which did happen, and both songs have elaborate videos despite the former being part of a series of boss songs that don't have new videos and the latter being an event song, while most event songs receive video overlays at best.
- TWODEEXGOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLD!ExplanationThe call of Michael a la mode from IIDX Gold's theme song, GOLD RUSH
- The number of Red Zone mixes is getting a tad silly.
- Now we have Evans, KIMONO♡PRINCESS, Miracle Medicine & Bloomin' Feeling.
- ONLY ONE _____ExplanationTAG's SUPER STAR MITSURU songs in beatmania IIDX all have genres starting with "ONLY ONE". In addition, he has an album, "ONLY ONE ACT", and in beatmania IIDX 21 SPADA, an unlockable judge font precedes all note judgements with "ONLY ONE" (e.g. "ONLY ONE GREAT", "ONLY ONE POOR").
- VENUSExplanationThe alias of DJ YOSHITAKA and Sota Fujimori when they collaborate together. VENUS is infamous for their Ho Yay-filled songs and song art.
- WIZAUCHUNAIExplanationA common line in VENUS songs is ウィザウチュナイ (wizauchunai), which is meant to mean "Without you tonight".
- Wow Wow VENUSExplanationYet another exceptionally catchy song by VENUS, notable for its album art, which consists of DJ YOSHITAKA looking downwards, potentially at Sota's "VENUS", and also beause of...
- Wow Wow PENISExplanationAs if VENUS's reputation for Ho Yay wasn't bad enough, this mishearing showed up in the English-language community.
- Hitori ja JESUSExplanationAnother line in the song. It's debatable whether it's really "JESUS" or meant to be something else.
- P-P-PARANOIA!
- Is Lincle Link 5 over yet?ExplanationA BEMANI crossover event that infamously refused to end for nearly two years, when most unlock events do not last that long. More information here.
- Konmai QualityExplanationA phrase often used when Konami cuts corners in developing their games, leading to things like poor translations, hilarious blatant typos, Game Breaking Bugs, and the like. Most often associated with BEMANI games (with the typo itself originating from GuitarFreaks 8thMIX & DrumMania 7thMIX, as seen here◊) but could also be used for other Konami games as well.
- Otoiroha toiletExplanationMany fans have noted that the cabinet for Otoiroha bears a strong resemblance to a toilet.
- Similarly, the pun おトイレは (otoireha), as トイレ means toilet.
- BEMANI Sound TeamExplanationLate in 2017, new Konami original songs in BEMANI games started getting credited to "BEMANI Sound Team" rather than the specific artist, likely due to the ongoing Executive Meddling happening between Konami and contributors of BEMANI songs and visual art. This led to BEMANI fans taking existing songs and replacing the names of their credited artists with "BEMANI Sound Team", such as "Mei / BEMANI sound team vs BEMANI sound team" (Amuro vs Killer) and "Wow Wow BEMANI Sound Team" (VENUS). A compromise was made shortly after, with in-house artists credited once again... this time after the "BEMANI Sound Team" tag. A similar thing occurred with the visual artists in IIDX 25, but was resolved in the next version.
- KONAMI Hates EveryoneExplanationWith a recent increase of pretty much every other major rhythm game collaborating with each other, KONAMI seems not to want to comply (including having the BEMANI songs cut from CHUNITHM). This seems to be the only real explanation. Though, FLOWER did return in CHUNITHM NEW.
I'm so impressed I could cry! Thank you very much for your best memes!
