'The Fairly OddParents' Reboot on Nickeldeon

Nickelodeon‘s Fairly OddParents revival promises wands and wings and floaty crowny things… but not Timmy Turner.

The children’s network has handed a series order to Fairly OddParents: A New Wish, which is being described as a “reimagining” of the Emmy-winning cartoon. The revival will premiere on Nickelodeon in the U.S. and stream internationally on Netflix at an as-yet-unspecified date.

A New Wish stars Ashleigh Crystal Hairston (Tiny Toons Looniversity, Craig of the Creek) as the voice of Hazel Wells, “an adventurous 10-year-old with unique interests and an even wilder imagination” who “has just moved to the big city of Dimmadelphia because of her dad’s new job,” according to the official logline. “On top of being in an unfamiliar environment, it’s the first time she’s been without her brother, Antony, who’s just left for college, leaving her lonely and unsure of herself. All that changes when the pink-and-green-haired neighbors next door reveal that they are no ordinary neighbors… they’re Cosmo and Wanda, fairy godparents! And they’re coming out of retirement to make all of Hazel’s wishes come true.”

Daran Norris and Susanne Blakeslee will reprise their roles as Cosmo and Wanda, who we’re told recently embarked on a “10,000-year vacation across space and time” and are “back to listening to their magical instincts.”

The original Fairly OddParents ran for 10 seasons on Nickelodeon, between 2001 and 2017, and followed the magical adventures of 10-year-old Dimmsdale resident Timmy Turner and his well-meaning fairy godparents. The series previously spawned a series of live-action TV-movies — 2011’s A Fairly Odd Movie: Grow Up, Timmy Turner!, 2012’s A Fairly Odd Christmas and 2014’s A Fairly Odd Summer — all starring Drake Bell (Drake & Josh) as a twentysomething Timmy Turner and Daniella Monet (Victorious) as Tootie.

The trilogy were followed by a short-lived, live-action revival on Paramount+, The Fairly OddParents: Fairly Odder, which centered on Timmy Turner’s cousin Viv (played by The Flight Attendant‘s Audrey Grace Marshall ) and her new step-brother Roy Raskin (Single Parents‘ Tyler Wladis). It was cancelled after 13 episodes and scrubbed from the streaming service in January 2023.

Fairly OddParents: A New Wish executive producers include original series creator Butch Hartman and Fred Seibert (Adventure Time). Co-EPs include Hairston, David Stone (Teen Titans Go!), Lindsay Katai (Infinity Train) and Daniel Abramovici (The Peanuts Movie).
