1. Manuel Antonio - one of the most beautiful parks in the world

Manuel Antonio, with its 16 square kilometers, is the smallest national park in Costa Rica. It is home to more than 100 different species of mammals, including capuchin monkeys, howler monkeys and the famous three-fingered sloth. There is also an impressive variety of bird species. 2. Tortuguero National Park

Tortuguero National Park covers an area of 190 square kilometers. It includes both coastal and freshwater ecosystems such as canals, lagoons and wetlands. Tortuguero is known as one of the most important protected areas for Sea turtles. Every year between July and October thousands come to the beaches of the park to lay their eggs. A spectacular natural spectacle! Besides the sea turtles, Tortuguero is home to a variety of other species. Monkeys, crocodiles, sloths, jaguars and a wide variety of birds also call Tortuguero home. One of the best ways to explore the park is to take an exciting boat tour through the canals, where you can get up close and personal with the abundant wildlife and plants. 3. Corcovado National Park

Corcovado covers an area of approximately 424 square kilometers and includes both rainforest and coastal ecosystems. Corcovado is home to the largest primary forest on the U.S. Pacific coast. In terms of biodiversity, Corcovado fools no one. It is the most biologically intense place on earth in terms of biodiversity. You will find 4 species of monkeys, jaguars, tapirs, many species of birds and reptiles and a whole 8000 insects. 500 species of trees and a large number of exotic plants can also be found here. 4. Arenal Volcano National Park

Arenal Volcano is an absolute natural gem with its rainforest, hot springs and waterfalls. It covers an area of 121 square kilometers and includes the impressive Arenal Volcano, which is the most active volcano in the world. Next to the volcano you will also find Lake Arenal, which is the largest lake in Costa Rica. The biodiversity consists of monkeys, snakes and colorful birds, among others. The park offers spectacular views of the volcano and surrounding landscapes, including dense rainforests and picturesque waterfalls. 5. Cahuita National Park

Cahuita is relatively small with its 17 square kilometers, of which 6 are water. The park is known for its spectacular coral reef, which is home to many marine life. Here you can encounter colorful fish, sea turtles, rays and even sharks while snorkeling. The park offers hiking trails along the coast and through the rainforest, where you can admire monkeys, sloths, iguanas and many species of birds. Cahuita is known for its natural beauty and its efforts to protect the marine environment.

6. Monteverde National Park

Monteverde covers 105 square kilometers and is famous for its stunning cloud forest landscape. The cloud forest is home to an incredible variety of plants and animals, including rare orchids, hummingbirds and monkey species. Here you can also enjoy the nature of the park on adventurous hiking trails. A main attraction in Monteverde is the suspension bridge tour, where you walk across the treetops of the forest.
