The Arc de Triomphe de Paris (in French, Arc de triomphe de l'Étoile) is one of the most famous monuments in the French capital and is probably the most famous triumphal arch in the world. Built between 1806 and 1836 by order of Napoleon Bonaparte to commemorate the victory at the Battle of Austerlitz, it is located in the VIII Arrondissement of Paris, on the Charles de Gaulle square - formerly called Place Place de l 'Étoile, redesigned by Haussmann―, at the western end of the avenue des Champs-Élysées, 2.2 km (kilometers) from Place de la Concorde, located at the eastern end of the avenue.
It has a height of 50 m, a width of 45 m, and a depth of 22 m. The large vault measures 29.19 m high by 14.62 m wide, while the small one measures 18.68 m high by 8.44 m wide.
It is managed by the National Monuments Center.
