CEPT University has been ranked fourth in the Architecture category of National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF). This is the first time CEPT University has participated in NIRF.
“Informally, many believe that CEPT University is among the best institutes in the country in the habitat disciplines. However, this year for the first time the University has participated formally in the national and state level rankings.
We are pleased with the outcome so far," said Tridip Suhrud, Provost, CEPT University.
“In the last eight years, the University has put in a lot of effort in improving student choice in learning, systematizing learning framework, adding and improving infrastructure, and most importantly, improving the quality of teaching and learning. We see this outcome in NIRF, and earlier this year in GSIRF, as one of the ways in which all this effort is being recognized and it is heartening to note,” added Suhrud.
Top three institutes in the list are IIT Kharagpur, IIT Roorkee and National Institute of Technology Calicut, in that order. Other renowned institutions in the list after CEPT are School of Planning and Architecture Delhi, Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology Kolkata, School of Planning and Architecture Bhopal, National Institute of Technology Tiruchirappalli, School of Planning and Architecture, Vijayawada and so on. CEPT is the only Private University among the top 10 rank holders in the Architecture category.

National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) was introduced by the Ministry of Human Resources Development (MoHRD), Government of India in 2016. An Academic Institution can participate as a University and/or in a discipline-specific category. A total of 66 institutions from across the country participated in the Architecture category.
The methodology adopted for ranking in NIRF 2020 included “Teaching, Learning and Resources,” “Research and Professional Practices,” “Graduation Outcomes,” “Outreach and Inclusivity,” and “Perception”.
In the month of February 2020, CEPT’s Faculty of Architecture emerged top ranked in the state in the Architecture category of Gujarat State Institutional Rating Framework (GSIRF). It was rated 5 Stars with CGPA 4.33 in the Architecture category. This was the first time CEPT participated in GSIRF.
