Adhara - ε Canis Majoris (epsilon Canis Majoris)

Altitude: -30.1°   Azimuth: 260.1°   Direction: West

Adhara, also designated as ε Canis Majoris (epsilon Canis Majoris), is a double bright giant star in the constellation of Canis Major.

Adhara visual magnitude is 1.5, making it the 22th brightest star in the sky. Thanks to its high brightness, Adhara is clearly visible when observed from locations with dark skies, and should be also quite easily visible from light polluted areas.

The proper motion of Adhara is 0.004 arcsec per year in Right Ascension and 0.003 arcsec per year in Declination and the associated displacement for the next 100000 years is represented with the red arrow.
