International Superstar Soccer Deluxe, Super Nintendo

The 1995 sequel to Konami‘s International Superstar Soccer is more refined and detailed than the first game, but still retains its exuberant atmosphere, OTT commentary, and alluring gameplay style.

The tone of the early ISS games was: realistic, but with a noticable anime style to the animations. Control is kept simple, allowing the player to at least feel as though they can string a few moves together. Tackling is a matter of luck and timing. And scoring goals is celebrated the Japanese way (meaning: like a superhero).

International Superstar Soccer Deluxe may not be as in-depth or realistic as the later ISS games, but it is certainly just as much fun to play.
