Taiwo Awoniyi scored the only goal of the game to secure top-flight football for Steve Cooper's men.

And, in the process, they handed the title to Manchester City as they sit four points clear of Arsenal, who have just one game left.

To rub salt in the wounds of Gunners fans, Aurier, who spent four years at their biggest rivals Tottenham, was part of the team who beat them.

And the right-back took to Instagram to reveal his past with the north Londoners was still at the front of his mind.

He wrote in an Instagram story: "If we are not champions, they will not be champions too. My Spurs family."

It might give Tottenham fans something to smile about after another miserable weekend in the Premier League.

They suffered a loss at home to Brentford on Saturday despite Harry Kane's wonderful long-range strike giving them the lead.

The Bees came back in the second-half, with Bryan Mbeumo causing chaos and scoring two goals.

Yoane Wissa then netted in the last minute to end the contest and led to a chorus of boos from the home fans.

It has left Tottenham eighth in the Premier League with one match left and their hopes of even playing in the Europa Conference League have taken a dent.

Spurs are still without a manager after sacking Antonio Conte and then his stand-in Cristian Stellini.

Ryan Mason has been in the dugout but top choice boss Julian Nagelsmann is out of the running to take over.

Feyenoord boss Arne Slot is the favourite to be offered the job after a fine year where they have won the Eredivisie.

Forest, meanwhile, have been rewarded for sticking with Cooper after he staved off the sack earlier in the season.
