RICHMOND, Va. – Stony Brook graduate pitcher Ben Fero has been named the CAA Pitcher of the Week as announced by the conference office on Monday afternoon.

Fero becomes the first pitcher in program history to earn a CAA weekly award in the team's inaugural season in the conference.

In the game one victory over North Carolina A&T on Friday, Fero tossed the first complete game of his career. The right-hander allowed three hits and one run over his nine innings on the bump in the 5-1 victory.

The graduate struck out nine batters which marked a new season-high and was the second-most of his career (11 against NJIT on May 19, 2022). Also, Fero retired 10 of his final 11 batters and kept the Aggies off the board over the final six frames to secure his fourth win of the season and 13th of his career.

The right-hander has tossed at least 6.0 innings in six of his seven conference starts this season and has a 2.43 ERA over his last five starts in 34.1 innings on the bump. This season, Fero leads the team in starts (10), batters faced (213), innings pitched (57.2), and ERA (5.46).

The Seawolves return to the diamond on May 2, to take on Fairfield at 3:00 p.m., at Joe Nathan Field. Stony Brook will look to continue their success against the Stags as they are 11-7 all-time against Fairfield.
