Season honor: This Diman co-op hockey senior selected to Mass. vs. Conn. ice hockey game
FALL RIVER — Jacob Almeida has had a season to remember this winter.
And it keeps getting better for the Diman/Durfee/Westport co-op ice hockey player.
The Bengals senior winger was selected as an all-star for the Massachusetts vs. Connecticut Border Challenge Hockey game. The event will take place at Sacred Heart University in Fairfield Conn. on March 30, beginning at 4:30 p.m.
Almeida, a senior captain, finished the season with a team-high 35 goals, 55 points and contributed 20 assists. He was named the Mayflower Athletic Conference Most Valuable Player and a Mayfower all-star.
Almeida helped lead Diman/Durfee/Westport to a 15-4-1 regular season record, a 9-1 mark in Mayflower action and a postseason berth in the Division 3 state tournament.
He finishes his career with 147 total points — 95 goals and 52 assists.
"I'm gonna miss Jacob," Bengals head coach Marc O'Connor said. "He's everything you want in a student athlete."
