Armando Bacot’s emotional postgame after home finale in Chapel Hill

Tuesday night was the last time North Carolina center Armando Bacot would play on the court in the Dean Dome as the Tar Heels dismantled Notre Dame on Senior Night.

Bacot finished the game with 14 points including making two three-pointers in the 84-51 win. While Bacot was honored before the game for Senior Night, it was after the game that he got emotional. He met with the media for the final time in the locker room and opened up about his time at UNC.

And it was a special moment.

“I may not have been the best player that ever played here. I may not have scored the most points. I did grab the most rebounds. I may not have blocked the most shots,” Bacot said. “But I think in terms of players, nobody has loved the school more than I have. And that’s something I can be proud of.”

That’s a pretty powerful quote.

We know how much Bacot loves this school, saying he would die for the university in the past. And now, you can see him getting emotional after the game as well:

Bacot and the Tar Heels have at least a share of the ACC regular season title and can win it outright by beating Duke in Durham. It was two years ago that the Tar Heels stunned the Blue Devils there in the season finale and they will look to spoil Senior Night again this weekend.

But the bigger picture remains. A run to the national championship and that is what UNC hopes to accomplish this year in the final few weeks of Bacot’s career.
