Footmercato: Milan have serious interest in Lyon midfielder Aouar

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan have registered their interest in signing Lyon midfielder Houssem Aouar on a free transfer ahead of next season, a report claims.

According to Footmercato, it was presumed during the most recent summer window that Aouar didn’t have a future with Lyon given his deal expires in June 2023 and Nottingham Forest came forward to try and sign him.

Aouar was on the bench for the first part of the season but then Peter Bosz was sacked as head coach Laurent Blanc arrived, and now the Frenchman has gone back to being a starter having been in the XI for the last five league games.

Recently, Aouar thanked Blanc for having helped him regain his confidence and ensured that he was the man for the job to straighten out the club, but Lyon are n 8th place in Ligue 1, 10 points from Rennes in 3rd.

A lack of Champions League football could lead Aouar – who is still only 24 – to look at a new destination and a new project given he be free to negotiate with clubs abroad from January 2023. Napoli, Real Betis, Sevilla and Real Sociedad are all following, but now Milan have emerged as a contender.

The Rossoneri management are big admirers of the quality of the player as well as his probable free agent status, while the midfielder wants to join a club with big ambitions. Milan are thinking about a move ‘very seriously’, so now we wait for concrete developments.
