Description
A sample of the acicular, or needle-like, form of gypsum (hydrated calcium sulphate). Gypsum is a common sedimentary evaporite (a mineral deposit of precipitated salt). It is used in the making of plaster of Paris for construction, as a retarder in Portland cement, as a flux for pottery and as a fertilizer.
