Former Alabama defensive lineman Antonio Alfano, now at the JUCO level, is once again pulling in offers

Antonio Alfano believes he is making a statement this year that will get him back to the Power Five level. The former five-star recruit has consistently been making plays for Lackawanna Community College with the hopes of another shot at big-time football.

The former No. 1 player in the nation in the class of 2019, Alfano’s collegiate journey took him first to Alabama, then Colorado and now to Lackawanna. The place feels like home, he says, even as he is eyeing some potentially big offers coming his way.

Alfano is becoming a hot commodity on the recruiting trail again with Charlotte, Florida A&M, Liberty and UTSA all having offered in recent weeks. His potential is obviously there, with over a dozen tackles (seven tackles for a loss) and 2.5 sacks in two games at Lackawanna.

Jacksonville State and Houston are also getting involved he says. Alfano played for Colonia High School (Colonia, New Jersey).

“Everything off the field is going great. I’ve put myself on pace to leave in December and enroll in my next school by January and worst case scenario enroll wherever by May,” Alfano said.

“I don’t really come out of my room much but team-wise, I can say I’m really starting to takee more advantage of how much I do know about the game and how much I can actually help these other younger guys I’ve met along the way with me.”

Alfano is on the rise and beginning to show the reality of his enormous potential.

Lackawanna is 2-1 on the season. Alfano is pleased with the direction of things so far. They lost 19-7 this past weekend to Georgia Military College.

“A solid start to our season. We lost our last game for self-inflicted reasons and at the end of the day the other team just played better than we did to win,” Alfano said.

“The team including myself, are just focusing on getting better every single day in every way that we can and grow every day together as a team.”
