ALAMOSA, COLO.—After two electrifying days at the 2019 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) Indoor Track and Field Championships it was Adams State on the women’s side and Western on the men’s side that hoisted the Team Championship trophy.

In all, 10 RMAC meet records and 70 NCAA Division II provisional/auto marks were posted during the Championship Meet.
 
Heptathlon
After two-days and seven grueling events it was Spencer Jahr from Colorado Mesa who broke the RMAC meet record recording 5,190 points. Hayden Sather from Colorado School of Mines totaled 5,120 points and Chase McLean from Colorado School of Mines finished third with 5,050 points.
 
High Jump
Both Serena Canegan of New Mexico Highlands and Kaija Crowe of UCCS cleared 1.65-meters, however Canegan did so in less jumps to take first place. CSU-Pueblo’s Lydia Pavlenko rounded out the top three with a height of 1.62-meters.
 
Derek Valdez of UCCS soared to a height of 2.17-meters to take first place while Ethan Harris of Colorado Mesa jumped 2.11-meters to take second and Tanner Walsh of UCCS finished third recording a height of 2.05-meters.
 
Triple Jump
Anne Topal of New Mexico Highlands toppled the field with a jump of 12.39-meters. Jumping 12.11-meters for second was Reagan Andrews of CSU-Pueblo and Kiana Jackson of Colorado Mesa finished third (11.70-meters).
 
The Freshmen duo from Chadron State of Brock Voth and Joss Linse took first and second as Voth jumped 14.52-meters and Linse recorded a leap of 14.41-meters. Willaim Ross from UCCS rounded out the top three with a jump of 14.39-meters.
 
Shot Put
Jenna McKinley took first with a toss of 14.07-meters while Courtney Clark was close behind for second with a mark of 14.01-meters. Black Hills State’s Kyla Sawvell came in third with a distance of 13.23-meters.
 
Adams State’s Samuel Reid took home first place after his best toss of 18.10-meters. Colby Stinson from Western finished in second with a mark of 17.70-meters and Conor Bertles from UCCS finished third with a distance of 16.11-meters.  
 
Mile
Adams State’s Roisin Flanagan topped a tough field as she stopped the clock at 5:01.16. Fellow teammate, freshman Stephanie Cotter came in second (5:03.67) and Kara Burton of Colorado School of Mines placed third (5:08.90).
 
Colorado School of Mines’ Luke Julian won by over five seconds as he recorded a time of 4:15.84. In a close race for second between teammates from Western it was Ross Husch who took second (4:20.91) and Woodrow Murray-Wood in third (4:21.27).
 
400-meters
Skylyn Webb broke the RMAC record as she clocked a time of 54.65 for first place. Malakah Martinez of Adams State finished second in a time of 55.80 and crossing the line in 56.24 for third was Jill Payne of Colorado Mesa.
 
South Dakota Mines, Jonathon Murray crossed the line first with a time of 49.18 as he just out leaned Augie Larranaga of Adams State who also finished in 49.18. Caleb Simons finished third after crossing the line in 49.68.
 
60-meters
Both Kandace Thomas and Dianna Johnson of Adams State dipped below the RMAC record as Thomas crossed the line first in a time of 7.18 which tied the NCAA DII All-Time record and currently is the fastest time run by an American this year. Johnson finished second in 7.22 while UCCS’ Kayla Zink finished third in 7.59.
 
RJ Ramirez of CSU-Pueblo took home first place with a time of 6.87. In a very close race for second that saw four student-athletes separated by .02 it was Elias Limon of Colorado School of Mines (second) and Ian Kerr of Adams State (third) who finished in 6.91.
 
60-meter hurdles
Chelsey Murphy took home the title with a time of 8.85 and it came down to .003 seconds between second and third as Katherine Smith of Adams State edged out McKayla Thomas of Colorado Mesa as both finished in 8.91.
 
Finishing in first was Charlie Forbes of UCCS in a time of 7.97 while Xavier Bishop-Falu and Kyree Gerstle-Goodman of Western finished second and third respectively in times of 8.10 and 8.14.
 
800-meters
Shortly after winning the 400, Webb stepped on the track and once again came away with a first-place finish by over two seconds recording a time of 2:11.46. Westerns Bailey Sharon out leaned her teammate Jessica Cusick for second place in 2:13.82 while Cusick crossed in 2:14.04.
 
Western’s Juman Randall used a strong third lap to pull away from the field to finish in 1:52.02 for first. Freshman, Nick Nowlen of MSU Denver took second (1:54.01) and Gage Mayo of Western finished in third (1:54.87)
 
200-meters
Johnson of Adams State came back and topped the field with a time of 24.16 while Tatianna Clanton (second) of CSU-Pueblo and Kayla Zink (third) of UCCS rounded out the top three with times of 24.75 and 24.79 respectively.
 
After breaking the RMAC record in prelims, Ian Kerr of Adams State re-broke it, crossing the line in 21.40 for the win. UCCS’ Deshon Elcock took second in 21.85 and Elias Limon of Colorado School of Mines finished third in 22.08.
 
3K
Sisters, Eilish and Roisin Flanagan of Adams State went one-two respectively with times of 10:01.23 and 10:13.08. Colorado School of Mines’ Chloe Cook took third place crossing the line in 10:15.35.
 
In a tough field, Elias Gedyon stopped the clock first as he crossed in 8:40.54, while Western teammates Charlie Sweeney (8:41.88) and Taylor Stack (8:47.18) finished second and third, respectively.
 
4X400
CSU-Pueblo took home the title as the squad of Tatianna Clanton, Hailey Streff, Yasmine Hernandez and Lauren Fairchild recorded a time of 3:54.38. Kacee Lyn Hahn, Fanta, Toure, Mackenzie Burt and Bailey Sharon of Western came in second (3:55.25) and the team from Colorado Mesa, McKenna Molder, Haley Golden, Sydney Trichler and Jill Payne finished third (3:59.72).
 
CSU-Pueblo used a strong last leg from Thomas Staines to take first as Patrick Scoggins, Devundrick Walker and Shawn Horne broke the RMAC record recording a time of 3:16.52. The team from Western consisting of Jarin Donaldson, Juman Randall, Caleb Chastain and Iribe Adrian took second in a time of 3:19.17. Taking third in a time of 3:19.83 was Hayden Sather, Gavin Webster, Elias Limon and Triston Sisneros of Colorado School of Mines.
