identification: Medium size, round, somewhat flattened. The greenish base colour is covered with reddish brown russet patches and rays as well as abundant russet lenticels. The calyx is medium size, partly to fully open and set in a medium deep, funnel-shaped basin. The stem is short and slender, set in a deep and narrow, russeted cavity.
characteristics: The flesh is yellowish, fine-grained and firm. Juicy, sweet, sprightly and aromatic.
uses: Dessert and cooking.
origins: Originated in the Deux Sèvre region of France and was already a well-known market apple in the mid 1800s.
cultivation: Moderately vigorous, spreading tree. Spur bearer. Slow to start bearing fruit, but produces annually once started.
