Amy Winehouse Takes Home Five GRAMMY Awards

Troubled British singer Amy Winehouse dominated the 50th annual GRAMMY Awards last night, winning five statues including record of the year, song of the year and best new artist.

Rapper Kanye West was right behind her with four victories: best rap album, rap song, best rap solo performance and best rap performance for a duo or group. Herbie Hancock picked up the best album of the year for River: The Joni Letters.

Among the Hispanic artists honored at the event were Alejandro Sanz (best Latin pop album for El Tren de los momentos), Juan Luis Guerra (best tropical album for La llave de mi corazón), Calle 13 (best Latin urban album for Residente o Visitante), Los Tigres del Norte (best norteño album), Pepe Aguilar (best Mexican/Mexican-American album for 100 por ciento Mexicano), and El Chapo (best banda album award for Te va a gustar).

The Show
Accompanied by a recording of Frank Sinatra, Alicia Keys opened up the show with the song “Learning the Blues.” Kanye West gave an emotional tribute to his late mother with a performance of “Hey Mama.” And Beyoncé and Tina Turner livened up the night with a duet of “Proud Mary.”

Without a doubt, Winehouse's performance was the most anticipated of the night. She sang “You Know I'm No Good” and “Rehab” live via satellite from a private location in London.
