What are your favorite "aboreable" cars?
-
@Mark-Tucker Even the name on that one is cute!
-
@flatisflat It does look like it's smiling for sure.
-
The original adorable car. It wasn’t intended to be cute and fun, but it is. -
@f86sabre I would argue that there isn't and has never been anything boring about those. Ordinary yes, they became common, but exciting/interesting things can be common too. But yes they are adorable.

Does the Suzuki Aerio qualify? How about the Ford Aspire?

@awesomeaustinv I think my old Echo falls into this group
Edit. Pic taken at 444,444 kms.
+1 came here for this

@awesomeaustinv Paging @tysmagic for a boring car appreciation post.

-
@Sam-Blockhan I had a green one of those. It was thoroughly adequate.

@Mark-Tucker my dad had the Dodge Shadow version as a take-home car for awhile, he was made fun of at work for it a bit, since everything else in the fleet was either a Caprice or a Crown Vic, but it probably worked pretty well for undercover stuff. Many years later, I ended up working with an older gentlemen who had retired from the public works department, and he told me a story I had never heard- apparently, one time they were doing some paving and had a lane closed and a drunk guy in a Bronco decided he was having none of that, swung out onto the shoulder, and drove right up to the road crew, got out, and started yelling obscenities at them and swinging around like he wanted to fight them, then the door of the ice blue Dodge Shadow that was third in the line of waiting traffic swung open and the guy was face down on the asphalt getting cuffed.
-
@Fish-McSticks Once again, adorable yes, but not remotely boring. This is an aboreable car appreciation thread.
-
@awesomeaustinv Mazda 121 fits here I think.
-
My caffeine-deprived brain read this as "arboreable", thus:
Although this one qualifies on both counts. -
Dodge Neon says, Hi.

That Elantra is an honest little car. The GT’s looked nice. They hark from an era of Hyundai and Kia still finding themselves so reliability and quality were a mixed bag but still decent and the price is hard to argue.
Mk1 Focus Wagon is neat! Shame they didn’t get SVT’d like the hot hatch.
Caio!

Pre-Facelift Mirage

@awesomeaustinv the first generation Focus was a brilliant design, shame they cocked it up afterwards, at least in North America.
I'd put the Mk1 Ka and the Twingo in the same category, likely future classics
Unfortunate the mk1 focus was so full of problems it spent a lot of time behind tow trucks. I had a 2000 zx3 in college and it was never ending recalls.

@Old-Busted-Hotness Nature always finds a way...
-
@KAC Yes that absolutely counts, the Mazda 121 is very cute.
-
@Palem Dodge Neon is textbook aboreable, not that I'm writing a textbook.
-
@orneryduck I'd argue the 500 has way too much effort put into its styling to be considered boring, but it's certainly cute. That Mirage however definitely counts as aboreable!
-
@awesomeaustinv Had a thing for chevettes, which have now transubstantiated from shitbox to antique curiosity.
-
@awesomeaustinv I owned an 01 accent hatch. It had a 2.0 tibby swap and was sitting on k sport coilovers. It was one of the most fun cars I’ve owned and held up beautifully.

Here is a car that has been "abored":

@MisterButtercup these truly do fit the mark and the love they deserve - we need more posts like this (I also need to get back on the hyphen more)
