Actea ‘Black Negligee’

Bold and dramatic herbaceous perennial for part shade. Slender creamy white fragrant flower spikes with pink tints rise elegantly above the dark purple, nearly black lacy foliage. Foliage emerges bright green and quickly takes on it’s dark coloration. The flowers seem to float and smell delightfully of grapes and jasmine. Excellent textural plant that will delight in a moist partly shady area with loamy soil. The jet black foliage provides excellent textural color contrast providing a lacy background. Foliage emerges bright green and quickly takes on it’s dark coloration. Though this plant prefers part shade, more sun brings out darker foliage. Ideally it would receive morning sun with dappled shade from late afternoon scorching sun. Grows 4’-5’ tall.
