1933-2023
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Bertha Etta Balser, a beloved mother, wife, sister, and friend, who left us on October 17, 2023, at the age of 90. Bert passed peacefully at the Moncton Hospital surrounded by her loving family.
Bert was born on May 18, 1933, in Waterside, New Brunswick, to parents Lucy and Milford Maccallum. She grew up in a loving family with her siblings Marian, Bob (Annette), Ken (Sheila), Doug (Betty), Grace (Don), Ross (Joan), and Gord (Jeanie). After graduating from Moncton High School in 1952, Bert married the love of her life, Frank Dysart Balser, on August 3, 1955, at the Reform Baptist Church.
As a devoted wife and mother, Bert dedicated herself to her family and her community.
She was a stay-at-home mom who also worked at Co-op Insurance. Frank and Bert briefly resided in Windsor, Ontario before moving to Moncton, New Brunswick to raise their family.
Bert was defined by her joyful and exuberant spirit. She loved Jesus deeply and extended that love to all those she encountered. With her wonderful sense of humour, Bert brought laughter to those around her, brightening their days with her infectious smile and positive outlook on life.
Bert is survived by her loving husband, Frank, and a large, adoring family, including her children Doug (Karen) and Dawna (Jan), grandchildren Brittany (Matt), Adam (Chelsey), Jade (Will), Carly, Nick, and great-grandchildren Aletta and Hollis, and siblings Grace, Ross, Gord, and numerous friends and loved ones. She is preceded in death by her siblings Marian, Bob, Ken, and Doug, as well as her parents, Lucy and Milford.
A celebration of Bert's life will be held on Friday, October 20, 2023, at 2pm at Lewisville Baptist Church, officiated by minister Matt Vincent. Visitation will take place on Thursday, October 19, 2023, at Fair Haven Funeral Home from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM.
Bert's memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her, a testament to a life lived with unwavering faith, boundless love, and a spirit that illuminated the world around her. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten.

Plant a tree: How does it work
When your purchase is complete, a post will be made on the tribute wall of the deceased signifying the planting of a memorial tree.
An official certificate recognizing your purchase will be included with your email receipt. You can then forward the email to the family or print it and give it to them personally.
After an order is placed, our forestry partners will plant the tree in the area of greatest need (nearest the funeral home), according to the planting schedule for the year.
Due to seasonal conditions, the tree planting takes place during the spring and summer.
