What is APMP?

The Association of Public Management Professionals of Minnesota, or APMP, is a professional organization consisting of assistants and deputies at all levels of local government. Many members are assistant city or county managers or work within administration departments. A growing number of members work as assistants in other departments such as public works, police, finance, administrative services, and community development. Activities include: monthly meetings, networking, email updates, conference scholarship opportunities, book clubs, and social events.

The membership year runs from May 1 - April 30

$75 - APMP Membership
$30 - Students and Interns (includes membership in both APMP and MCMA)

APMP Aaron Sather Award for Emerging Leaders

Each year, the APMP Emerging Leader Award recognizes an individual who has, through their outstanding leadership or exemplary action, demonstrated an extraordinary commitment to making the Local Government profession, their individual organization and/or APMP better for today and the future. 

Description
The APMP Emerging Leader Award recognizes and celebrates members who have made contributions to the profession, their organization, and/or APMP and have demonstrated significant promise of leadership and continuing service. Nominations should include evidence of the nominee's contributions to the profession, their organization, and/or APMP and include at least one professional reference to be considered for the Award.
 
Criteria for Nomination
- The nominee must be a member of APMP.
- The nominee must have made a significant contribution to the profession, their organization, and/or APMP.
- The nominee must have shown outstanding promise for continuing service and leadership in public management. Specific examples of their activities must be provided.
- The nominee must not have previously received an award from APMP.

Nominations are complete for 2024. Check back in Spring 2025 for next year's award.
