Hector Flores

Hector Flores, 40, is a husband, father, and someone who loves to enjoy life. With a master’s degree in business administration, a bachelor’s in communications, and a diploma in digital media and design, Hector sees himself as a Swiss Army knife in the professional field. But outside the professional world, he likes to meet and interact with other people, loves to laugh, and making people laugh and smile.

What did you do when you were 25?

At that time I was taking my master’s degree, working as an internal communications coordinator for a prestigious private university in Mexico, the Monterey Institute of Technology, and I was also a theatre actor.

At that time I decided to produce a huge scale musical called Amor Pop. We reached over 11,000 people and it was a great achievement, but at the same time, it was tough because I was too busy.

Hector at 25

What advice do you have for today’s twenty-somethings?

Take advantage of your firm bodies and of your energy.

If you don’t have strong commitments, enjoy life, travel, and go on all these adventures… But also keep in mind that in these years (between your twenties and your thirties), you are building the foundations of your life.

It’s the time to think about who you will be when you’re 65. Think about the people you associate with, the decisions that you make today, and take as much as you can from the buffet of life, because if you are still figuring out who you want to be or who you are, the best way to do it is to expose yourself to different experiences.

Also, don’t allow someone else to take the steering wheel of your life.

With social media, sometimes we start creating stories or start envying someone else’s life, but you have to remember that this race is only against you. Therefore, it’s not a good idea to compare yourself with others because you don’t know what they are going through.

You will always see in social media the good part of things, or a very polished version of success.

So, try to become the best self that you can be for you.
