Overall I think he's a decent psychiatrist, however the process of seeing him was VERY unpleasant. I was prepared to pay out of pocket as he doesn't take my HMO insurance, but made sure to ask before my appointment if getting meds through my insurance would be a problem--I was assured he does it "all the time" and it would not be an issue....Fast forward--emails asking for my address (I already provided this info), doesn't have the pharmacy info (already provided), texts me multiple times stating my email "doesn't work", complains that my insurance is the "worst insurance on the planet" and he spent an hour on the phone for a "stupid rx" and will "not be calling them again"....I call my insurance and within 10 minutes have the right form with no issue....

After 6 months my pharmacy automatically contacts him for med refill. He calls me to "check in"--5 minute conversation, no problems, he will process a refill. Asks me to pay $150 after the fact...because he "spent time" calling me and answering the pharmacy. $150 for a simple refill?? Not a full follow up and NOT informed of this prior? Then says "well at least you got a good result". Made me feel stupid the entire time and that I was such a hassle when he was the one that made multiple mistakes. Will not be returning.

Dr. Gordon Globus is an outstanding doctor, extremely knowledgeable, compassionate and down to earth. Even though our insurance does not cover Dr. Globus and he is an hour away we plan on staying with him. He is well worth it. I can't thank Dr. Globus enough. The following is our experience:

My 25 year old son was diagnosed with temporary psychosis in June of this year. He had been going to an intensive outpatient program for 6 weeks and he was not improving and honestly was going backwards. Through my insurance company I was not able to get an appointment with a psychiatrist because they are so far behind and the wait for an appointment was 4-6 weeks. I was desperate and started researching the internet to see if I could find somewhere to take him in between getting an appointment through our insurance company.

I found Gordon Globus on the internet and started researching his reviews. I called late Thursday night and left a message. I was completely shocked but he returned my phone call that night. He talked to me for a good 15 minutes on the phone and he was able to hear what was going on. He scheduled an appointment to see him the next day.

I brought my son to the appointment the next day. Dr. Globus knew from my previous conversation with him that my son is reluctant to take medication and was very guarded. Dr. Globus was patient with him and explained things very well. He was part of the team trying to help my son. This is a much different experience than in the past as he wanted to know what was going on from the family's perspective too.

Dr. Globus followed up with us the next day and continues to be very active in my son's treatment. My son has needed tweaks to his medication and Dr. Globus has been available by phone or email anytime we need guidance. Dr. Globus has honestly been a GOD send during the most difficult time in my son's life.

I had gone to approximately 8 different Psychiatrists and 1 neurologist before I found Dr. Globus and he immediately knew what treatment plan to provide for my condition. I can say with full confidence, that I would not have been able to finish my final semester at Cal State Long Beach with a BS in Microbiology without him. He's extremely knowledgeable and compassionate and is an all around amazing physician and person! Thank you Dr. Globus!

Dr. Globus has seen me through crucial times in my life. He is a superb listener, then offers very practical solutions to help me solve my issues. He is the ultimate professional and highly credentialed. I cannot thank him enough for taking care of me. I would recommend Dr. Globus to anyone.

Dr. Globus has listened to, returned phone calls, with experience and professionalism treated my 82 year old Mother for a number of years. As I attended most of my Mom's appointments with her, I observed Dr. Globus carefully watching and summarizing what Mom said as well as valuing what I had to say. Knowing that my Mom has been very holistic in her approach to health, he prescribed a "natural" medication booster that was cutting edge and Mom felt comfortable with. Dr. Globus has seen Mom quite depressed and has also had the joy of seeing her functioning well and happy. I trust Dr. Globus and so does my husband who is a physician. Our family is so grateful to "have Mom back".

I feel unbelievably grateful to have found Dr. Globus over 8 years ago. He is a brilliant doctor with empathy, consideration and truly cares for his patients. They just don't "make" doctors like Dr. Globus anymore. He is the utmost professional and a wealth of information.

I was very very unwell when I went to finally see Dr. Globus who is out of our network and at least an hour away. In one year I had been put on a different antidepressant every month and then added abilify which was upped to 10 mg from .2 in a few months; by that time I had gone to the edge of life. Then came lithium and its side effects; then Wellbutrin was added to the mix. I can't believe I let the psychiatrist do this to me; adding more medications to curb the side effects of prior medications. My original observation was some light depression at times!

Dr. Globus heard me out, took copious notes and gave a most accurate analysis: I needed a good therapist more than a psychiatrist and that I was way over medicated. He also summed up my personality very accurately. I was surprised at his ability to do this. That can only come from years and years of experience and also an innate ability.

I most highly recommend Dr. Globus. He calls you at home to check on you, replies to emails promptly and makes changes over the phone at times when needed. I find this attention most reassuring; since this is the first time I am getting it from a psychiatrist. Most seem to be medicine wending machines.

Dr. Globus is an old world type, who really cares about his patients; words coming from him carry weight and warmth at the same time. When I was most desperate, he said,'you'll get over this', and those few words coming from a man who commanded so much respect meant a lot to me.

And I am happy to report that I feel as good as new; only after two meetings with Dr, Globus. I do see my therapist every week. My medications are down to very very few and that too we are tweaking together.

I have to genuinely say that Dr. Globus is of of those few doctors who actually cares. Dr. Globus took the time to hear out my sorted problems and gave me genuine heart felt advise. His knowledge is second to none, and his advise is straight to the point. If you get the chance, I highly recommend you use his services. THANK YOU SO MUCH DOCTOR!

I have been seeing Dr. Globus for about 2 years now. He has been very helpful in working me through my anxiety issues. He listens, he shows concern, and he has been right-on with prescribing the right med for me. He is sincere, honest, and definitely puts the health and welfare of his patients first. He DOES NOT require his patients to visit him anymore than necessary.

He exhibits his honesty and sincerity by NOT charging his patients for unnecessary visits. EXAMPLE: When I first starting seeing him, he wanted to see me once a month, then as my condition improved he stretched-out my visits to every other month, then every 3 months, then 4 months, and now he only wants to see me every 6 months. It is obvious that Dr. Globus cares more about me than he does lining his pockets with my cash. Cheers to you Dr. G and thank you for improving the quality of my life!!

Dr. Globus took the time to listen and questioned back to me to ensure he completely understood what I was saying. This in itself is comforting because he is not just hearing and treating me as a generic. He understood how and why my body physically and mentally reacts in situations and life in general. We have made changes in meds which have benefitted me. Dr. Globus sincerely cares and made me comfortable immediately. He was recommended to me and I would recommend him to anyone.
