So disappointing!
Came here because of all the good reviews but I must have come on the wrong day. Food was mediocre. I have definitely had better Cuban food at MANY other places. Also, everything is a la carte (strange for a Cuban restaurant - I guess it's a way to be a bit more upscale?)
The cheese and caramelized onion appetizer was the best part of our meal. Everything else was SO disappointing and overpriced. The cascos de guayaba came garnished very nicely - looked "fancy" - but when I tasted what they drizzled on top, it was VINEGAR. They should have not drizzled anything on top if they did not have something sweet to go with the dessert!
And as far as to-go boxes... well they had none. I was given a plastic plate and a Fresco supermarket plastic bag....... serving their menu items a la carte is "upscale" but their to-go options are the opposite.
Will not return.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Vanett C.Miami, FL5414Mar 24, 2019
We've passed by El Almendron so many times, we finally came for dinner and ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT! The owner welcomed us in like family, the food is AMAZING. You have to try the Queso Asado con Mermelada de Cebolla, the Tacos de Boniato y Vaca Frita. They had a Rabbit dish that was delish, the Lacon a la Cerveza, the Pulpo con Cebollita Morada y Tomate Cherry, and the Filete de Res a la Pimienta, OMG just go until you've tried the entire menu like we're going to do! I've never been so inspired to recommend a restaurant like this one! Thank you for the food experience!

Stopped to try this place and the food was delicious. I give it a 3 star because the location is in a non-attractive shopping strip off of 67th ave and the food is ridiculously expensive for cuban food. The place was empty. We sat down and there was no bread brought to the table. We ordered Tamal al Almendron $7 which was good but too greasy with the shredded pork on top and the tamal way too small. We ordered the house special, Lacon a la Cerveza which was delicious with a crisp skin at a whopping $25 and comes with vegetables. We ordered white rice $3 for a very small cup of rice. The waiter and chef were nice and checked on us and suggested for dessert Bunuelos sobre leche condensada $6 which was tasty. Overall the food was very good (eventhough no bread and small rice) but very expensive for the type of place it is. Prices should be reconsidered for the area.

Restaranteur and chef Ulises owned this attractive and exclusive restaurant. This place remind me those small gourmet exclusive restaurant in Manhattan.
Food is unique, tasteful and always delicious. Excellent service from beginning to end. The good vibe, ambience, music and atmosphere is really cool.
If you are in Miami, must visit this place.
FIVE STAR but I could give them TEN STAR

Cuban food. But not just any Cuban food; gourmet Cuban food. The chef/owner of this new restaurant really takes pride in preparing all his creations; you can literally taste the love he puts into the food. Everything we ate was AMAZING!!!! The place is quaint, cozy, beautifully decorated and the Cuban music they play is just icing on the cake. Service was excellent too. My only recommendation is their menu is very limited. They should expand it a little.

I would never eat here again. Food was terrible, rice and beans tasted awful. Very disappointed.

the corona they served was small and they charged it like a regular beer. And when I asked why, the man said because they stay cold longer. What does a small beer have to do with staying cold longer when the only difference is less beer. On top of that food was bad. The lacon was dry, the rice and beans had no taste. And to sum it all up the service was horrible. I don't recommend it at all. And such high hopes I had for it, great promotions on their instagram. Thats about it.

Excellent Cuban food. The vaca frita had amazing flavor served with a side of sweet plantains and yuca con mojo. The mojo sauce gave the yuca so much flavor. Small venue but had a quaint and authentic feel. Great for a date night.

This is a GEM of a restaurant. Best mojitos we've had in Miami. Best
Cuban food (and we're Cuban) we've had as well. Service is outstanding and the prices very reasonable. We absolutely love it
and are repeat customers. Every time we've visited the food has been delicious and innovative. The place is intimate, fun, and the music wonderful.
BTW, don't get the disgruntled customer who wrote such a negative review. Must have been having a very bad day.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
