The food was AMAZING. Service was the best. Patio for the kids was great. Four people and drinks less than $70 with a good tip! Will definitely be revisiting.

HH only..so 5 out of 5 for drinks and hh. The chips and salsa are delicious. I think they used roasted bell peppers. The drinks are nice and strong.
Our waiter was attentive and friendly. The restaurant is casual. Only downside, you will leave smelling like smoke from the pit unless you sit outsideHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Dec 5, 2023Previous reviewI only had the queso, but wasn't impressed. However, the margarita, might put hair on your chest. premium margarita on the rocks or frozen. The service fine, I don't have any complaints. Very casual attire because you will probably leave smelling like smoke.
Also, I tried to doctor the queso. The photo is queso with salsa mixed in. - 231291252Mar 31, 20241 check-in
What's not to love. I've been here a few times, and I just had to take my dad for his birthday. It's always a great time with great food.
We stopped in for happy hour and enjoyed mango margaritas and smoked chicken flautas to start
He ordered a delicious burrito, and I got the smoked half shell redfish.
The flautas had a nice smoke to them 9/10
The bacon wrapped shrimp were cooked to perfection with a hint of bbq sauce. 8/10
Burrito was massive yet full of flavor. Each bite was amazing. 9/10
Redfish was small in portion but large in flavor. The fish was succulent and smoky with nice spices 9/10.
Whether you want indoor or outdoor seating, they have you covered.
Conveniently, they have free garage parking and an exceptional staff.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Mar 5, 2024
Oh my gosh, you won't believe how much I adore this Tex-Mex restaurant! Seriously, it's like the epitome of deliciousness. I mean, why on earth do they even call it Tex-Mex? It's so much more than that! The flavors are unbelievably authentic, and it's just mind-blowing. And let's not forget about the amazing patio they've got going on. It's a total game-changer.
And guess what? They're now open for brunch! Can you believe it? I'm beyond thrilled about this. Like, I can't contain my excitement. It's like all my dreams have come true.
Listen, even if you're not in the area, you absolutely need to make the effort to go there. Seriously, it's worth going out of your way just to experience the incredible food they serve. I can't stress this enough. Trust me, you won't regret it. So, if you happen to find yourself in the Montrose area, this place is an absolute must-visit. But honestly, even if you're not nearby, it's still worth the detour. You won't find better food anywhere else, I promise.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 1 - Jan 8, 2024
I recently visited Candente for the first time to meet a friend and was impressed with how pretty the restaurant was in the evening with all of the lights strung up. I also appreciated that they had a parking garage with an attendant next. There was minimal parking but I was able to find a space. We initially planned to sit inside as it was a bit drizzly earlier in the evening but found it to be very smoky inside and decided outdoors would be better.
We were seated on the terrace and it was nice and dry. To start, we ordered frozen margaritas which were delicious. I appreciated that they asked if I wanted a salt or tajin rim as many places have just assumed tajin (which I don't like). For dinner, I ordered the cheese enchiladas which were served with rice and beans. I have a very low tolerance for spice unfortunately though and these were very spicy for me. I had to ask for sour cream to help cool down my mouth so I could eat the meal. I do find it ridiculous when restaurants charge you extra for things like a very small sour cream when the meal itself already isn't cheap.
While there, the service was good and the food was good as well.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 4Oh no 0 - Jan 8, 2024
First time here for the farewell dinner for my friends. I ordered the veggie option. Black beans with quesadillas was pretty good! They were very generous about chips! They have creamy sauce and fresh sauce!
We all enjoyed their service and foods!
Pretty smoky environment with roasting meat so be aware of it! :)

First time here and the service and food were great!! We ordered the Laredo which consisted a half rack of ribs and carnitas a side of refried beans and orange Mexican rice. I especially enjoyed their handmade fresh flour tortillas. They weren't too thick or thin, just the right size. They complimentary serve corn chips with red and green salsa. My favorite was the green one as it has a unique taste with a hint of a smoky flavor and a bit tangy. I also ordered their taqueria green salsa. They do charge extra for it not sure why because it's a staple at a lot of authentic Mexican restaurants. It's on the spicy side but worth it.
We initially sat inside but it was too cold as they had the fans on because it gets very smoky on the inside and they're not able to turn them off. We had to sit outside but they had the heaters on and it felt nice and cozy.Helpful 0Thanks 1Love this 1Oh no 0 - Oct 21, 2023
Cane Rosso used to be in this spot before the pandemic. I had a lot of great memories at Cane Rosso so I was excited to check out what replaced it for a rare dinner out on the town. I was quickly left completely disappointed with Candente. So if you are chasing that Cane Rosso-high coming to check out the new life in the old space your mileage may vary.
Candente went out of their way to advertise what ingredients went into certain dishes on their online menu and then again on the menu at the restaurant as well. I appreciated that up-front so I could avoid certain items I am allergic to. Also since they listed ingredients I made the galaxy-brained assumption that there would be no additional ingredients (ingredients not listed) since they had gone open-kimono on what was in it, so why would they hide other stuff. Well, turns out they really mislead you by giving you a few ingredients on stuff and then just throwing in whatever their heart desires.
Point in case, I researched the online menu and verified the restaurant menu ingredients for the elote salad. Listed ingredients: shredded lettuce, roasted corn salad, black beans, cucumber, pepitas, queso fresco, chopped tomato, and creamy avocado dressing.
The only listed ingredient I had a problem with was tomato, which is why I thought I would order this dish as long as the server did not tell me that removing the tomato would be a problem. The server informed me that going sans tomato would present no problemo. So I ordered it. I was on my second bite when I learned there was onion in it. Not just tiny slivers, but whole huge ass chunks of onion. Onion was not listed in the ingredient list. This must be why I have trouble trusting people. You order one thing at the restaurant that seems like it is safe, and then Shrek suddenly sneaks in a pound of onions under the wire.
My second gripe with the restaurant was how astoundingly loud it was both inside and on the patio. This is not a place I would return to, but if you DON'T want to listen to the people you go out with then this is an ideal place to come so all conversation can be swallowed up into an endless vortex of noise.
This place is the opposite of any of those manic pixie daydream bistros or whatever, places you could actually talk about literature with a person at a normal volume. I have nothing nice to say about this place, one star.Helpful 5Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 1 - Feb 11, 2024
From the owners of the Pit Room (next door) comes Candente which is a Tex Mex spot with BBQ fusion touch. This was our first visit. The brisket nachos were a must. We also got the large combo of the beef and chicken. They make their tortillas fresh in house. I preferred the chicken over the beef surprisingly. Will be back to try their birria tacos and enchiladas on next visit. Parking can be a pain, I recommend using the side of the garage closer to Pit Room and park on the second floor. Great job overall to this spot.
