Description
A Friend of WXXI offers an untitled painting by Italian artist, Ausonio Colorni.
The image brings to mind a mass of purple iris flourishing in a garden. It shows Colorni's love of flowers and strong colors, and the enthusiasm with which he applied his spatula technique. Ausonio Colorni lived and worked in Bologna as a painter, musician, student of modern languages and musicology and taught at the University of Rubino. His works were exhibited throughout Italy. This piece is painted on masonite, that was favored by Colorni and other painters of the period. It is matted and framed in a light wood frame that measures 23 x 29 inches. Painting features slight cracking due to age.
