Ha delle grandi capacità di adattabilità, in quanto non necessita di particolari cure, ne di potature regolari, riesce a vivenre anche in terreni molto compatti ed argilosi, e sopravvive a temperature molto basse.
I rami appena fioriti possono essere usati per decorare e portare buon odore in casa, l’omaggio di un rametto di Calicanto è considerato espressione di affetto.
