  • Herbaceous evergreen shrublet, 2-6 ft (0.6-1.8 m), irregular shape.   Leaves opposite, linear, narrow (2-5 cm long, 1.5-3 mm wide), dark green above white-tomentose below, aromatic.  Flowers light blue, 13 mm long, borne in leaf axil from fall to spring. Fruit is a small, brown nutlet.
  •  Sun.  Easily grown, withstand drought and salt
  • Hardy to USDA Zone 7       Native to Southern Europe, Asia Minor.  Several cultivars.
  • officinalis: sold as a herb, used in medicine.    This is the rosemary used in cooking.
  • Oregon State Univ. campus: Cordley Hall, west side of south wing and east side.
